Really bad. However the reality is, WBD have not interest in running a feeder or development series. The onus for this has solely been put into other even organisers and national federations WBD only want top 10 teams with 30 riders

The fastest juniors can qualify elites and the rest aren’t Chris ball’s problem in his mind. Hopefully they at least will expand the elites field for men and women’s.

I often think about how does Todd manage the emotions that come with this. I don't think many people realize this is his baby and as he said himself "I'm the first one there when someone goes down".

Jeff, I have been doing the same thing. Here is finally what I decided to go with: The great thing about this forum is great ideas and opinions are abound. It is clear everyone here wants the best for the sport and for the athletes. There is a line that we all fear being crossed and more are seeing it as a real possibility as the event is reaching some scary levels. It has always been a gnarly event but it is starting to hit differently. We seem to all agree on a few things. Riders enjoy taking risks, every...

I think the tone on my comment must have been wrong. I agree with everything you said. This should be set up for riders. I feel it is unreasonable that these riders do not have that level of support given the risks they take. I am not privy to rider contracts but it seems like health insurance should be part of it. What happened to Silva is awful. I was only trying to convey that I wish athletes had a sufficient insurance to cover the inherent risks of the job. My apologies if my comment sounded negative. Also, Simcik does...

They don’t need a donation pool because the players already demanded one be created… NBA players receive between 49% and 51% of the league's "basketball-related income" (BRI). This percentage is guaranteed by the collective bargaining agreement and covers revenues from sources like TV deals, ticket sales, and merchandise. They also get comprehensive medical insurance funded by the league and players association for themselves and their families, both while they’re active in the league and after they retire. None of this was given freely to the athletes. These were demanded and fought for by the athletes through the players association and...

Two years ago, I would have called you crazy, but having had some prefrontal cortex development and a few MTB-related operations, it's terrifying to see a couple dozen incredible human beings (some of whom haven't even reached adulthood) put themselves at incredible risk for arguably not a lot of reward. I genuinely think we are reaching the limits of what the human body (and equipment) can do in many disciplines, and the recent injuries to these high-profile athletes are an unfortunate reminder of that. Something has to change, I don't know what that is, but I do know I won't...

Fuck this man. I can't really articulate why I feel this way about this event in particular given that a lot of my favorite sports are quite dangerous, but something about Rampage just makes this worse.

B.L.U.F: Transfers can happen at two times. During the mid season transfer window, dates announced in the documents team receive when they register early in the calendar year. And during the offseason. Mid season is the only time when points move with the rider. They also must wait to end their contract before moving to another team, or obtain signed agreement from both teams and UCI to make the transfer prior to contract termination. Mid season transfers can happen only during the mid season window, announced each year, it was a couple days in July. At any other time during...

Would be great to see Booker back on NP. Hardline rider with potential for EDR overall. Or even on the DH team if he wants to go that way. One of the most talented riders in the world.

Few thoughts, since I keep coming back to this thread, typing something, then deleting it. This is as much self-therapy as anything else. To start, It goes without saying, but this wasn’t the update I was hoping for. I’m praying for a miracle for Adolf. It’s gut-wrenching reading the update after watching everything unfold live. We’ll never remove risk from mountain biking, or from cycling in general. People die on two wheels every day, across every discipline. It’s awful. The world can be cruel in that way. What makes this one especially hard is how preventable it feels. It pokes...

Because there is the potential to make money. Rampage is not geared towards people on this message board. It is aimed at the crowd who watch the viral Tik Tok/Insta hits, don't really understand mountain biking, and just want to see the spectacle of these guys throwing themselves off cliffs. The whole event made me nervous, like it does every year. I love seeing these guys stomp these moves that I can't even begin to imagine and I'm sure they love the adrenaline from cleaning such a line. In the end, they are adrenaline junkies, like in any "extreme sport"...

As one who had a 'career' in freeride and spent that career working to get into Rampage, I have a lot to say about Rampage, its evolution, and its current state. I will try to keep it short. The professionalization of Rampage over the last 25 years has made for a better event. Riders and builders are better paid. It has resulted in more coverage, more reward, and the ability to build a professional career around the event. Is it perfect? No. But it is pretty darn good. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Has it gotten safer for athletes...

I’ve been surprised for awhile there’s not a crowdfunded racing team. Put a bunch of fan fave riders on a fan fave team and watch magic happen like it did when Moir, Dean Lucas, and Charlie Harrison were together on Intense. Would pitch in a few hundred bucks for Frameworks or Gwin Racing to pick up Dak. Surely there’s a bunch of folks willing to do similar. Could do it under the auspices of Vital Racing

The parts and accessories are getting an overhaul, we'll have some new stuff to show next year, probably less options than before as it was a pretty big range. What do you guys want to see Nukeproof make? Pedals, bars etc are a no brainer and the wheels are well regarded but we're open to suggestion...VitalMTB poll incoming...

I think it’s much like @kokokorokokoko stated a bit back. At the Isle of Mann or big mountain skiing, people have a long history of dying in pursuit of the limit. The risks aren’t theoretical, they are explicit and proven and collectively we’ve agreed to accept the costs. At Rampage, no one has died yet, but we all feel like we can see it coming. It’s human nature to want to stop it. It’s the world’s slowest motion car crash. Basically, the most tragic outcome is still theoretical but also feels inevitable. It’s an uncomfortable corner to be in.

There’s a big gap between “no one can get hurt doing it” and “20% of the people who did it will need months of rehab”. If 20% of the fighters on a boxing card ended up in the hospital requiring surgeries, I don’t think you’d see a lot of them, even if fighters were up for it. If Silva wants to commit suicide via double backflip, that doesn’t mean Red Bull should televise it.
