The problem I have with this argument is that it also justifies e.g. the live streaming of suicides as a media event. Something can be entirely voluntary with the boundaries and rules agreed to by all parties and still be bad. “People want to do it and people want to see them do it” is necessary but not sufficient, at least in most mainstream moral philosophies. More practically, having someone die gruesomely on stream would be absolutely terrible for both Rampage and freeride in general. It’s in the event organizers’ best interests to figure out how to rein in the...

I also want to say big respect to Reed Boggs for dealing with a frustrating situation yesterday with wisdom and class. It's got to be tough standing at the top, knowing that you have a good chance of dropping in and potentially winning the whole thing (or at least placing top 3), choosing discretion over valor, and then congratulating the winner as you choose to step away from the start gate.

First and above all else, my thoughts are with Adolf and his family. That was the most grotesque crash I have ever seen. Background: I competed on the Freeskiing World Tour from 2001-2009. In the span from ~03 to 2011, three individuals died competing including one person in Alaska at an event that I was at, waiting up top to drop on my run. That experience has had lasting repercussions on my life. There are still big mountain freeskiing contests and people are still risking it all at these events. I still watch them. Rampage Take: There is something fundamentally...

Emil has reported on insta -- " suffered a big dislocation of my right hip that they managed to pop back in at the hospital… but will most likely need to get surgery on it to clean the socket up from pieces of bone. Besides that I am pretty much unscratched!"

Tough day yesterday. I was sort of watching off and on while working on a truck project outside. Unfortunately, I was watching during Silva's crash. It was absolutely awful to see. It was crazy how Rogatkin uttered, "No!" halfway through Silva's double flip attempt. He could clearly see that he wasn't going to make it and knew that the resultant crash would be catastrophic.

It's not worth bringing up but... Reddit was discussing similar topics surrounding Rampage and I had brought up how OG Rampage was notably safer than what modern Rampage is. And that's part of the irony of the anti-slope narrative. Sure huge drops will always be unsafe and soft ground that is better to crash on will typically guarantee crashes by being too soft. But at the end of the day the huge tricks and the hard pack landings are the most difficult and unsafe part about Rampage. If it was chutes and smaller drops that were more technical into softer...

Holy shit. Healing vibes to Adolf. That was one of the worst slams I’ve seen in a long time. Praying he’s going to be alright.

Rampage would be better if ALL the top riders were there. Lacondeguey was robbed regularly and some English guy was robbed as well i think In the words of Brage Vestavik : " I respect it so much. The riding that goes down is definitely revolutionary in its own way. Those guys are legends and have been pushing the sport since the beginning. But I almost don't even like to think of it as a sport, more of an expression and something I like to do. When I was there, it definitely felt like I was a part of a...

Over the years, we've seen everything from a single hit the morning of the finals to big sessions with lots of hits. The really big stuff doesn't tend to see a lot of wheel tracks on it, that's for sure. As for Godziek's comment, I haven't watched his edit yet, did he maybe say he will only TRICK it in finals? Seems unlikely that he plans to not RIDE it at all before the competition.

Yesterday was awesome! The start of Cami's line was a standout for me too. Also really liking the vibe and sense of camraderie I've been seeing in various Vlogs (HB, Robin and others) from the women. One thing I've been wondering about when it comes to Rampage: does anybody have reliable numbers how many training runs the athletes do? Is it more like "alright, I've done this huge drop twice, time to spin it!" or can they go like 10, 15 times before attempting the riskier tricks? It seems to me that in this particular kind of venue, the effort...

Women's mountain biking is so lit right now. I hope the ladies are stoked with their riding and the show they put on because it was excellent. I was a little lost in the who is riding whose line storylines in the broadcast, which was a big story in this years event. Feels like the women got 10 years of progression in a single year. I feel like the judging and finishing order was pretty on point, or damn near close to it. Stoked to rewatch all of the runs with my wife again today, she was loving it.
