5/10/2026 4:04am Orbea has a pretty good network of bike shops selling their bikes in my area, more than Trek/Specialized, similar to Scott. They seem really popular with riders who just wanna walk into a shop and get a good bike, rather than spending hours comparing geos to the millimetre as we like doing around here

I wouldn't be surprised if a 32" rear wheeled bike would need an ochain (or an idler enabled "high pivot" design) at much lower travel numbers than what we are used to. Antisquat is a function of pivot height vs. rear axle and chain growth. The more AS you get from the pivot height, the less you need from the chain itself. As we moved from 26" wheels towards 29" wheels, the effective pivot height was dropping as the main pivot still needs to be in the vicinity of the BB for everything to work more or less normally. So we can self shuttle in the Summer and "heli ski" in the Winter? 600kg/4=150kg. Myself plus harness, ropes, avi gear, board and winter layers aren't even close to 1 drone's weight limit. You don't even have to come out of your bindings. I also love the mental image of people seated on their bikes, clipped in even, flying to the top of a DH run. Mr Jeff Brines, your CAST (amazing product btw) bindings are going to be obsolete.... Wait, now are the kite skiers and surfers going to complain about e-assisted kite skiers accumulating more hang time on...

add me to the list again, I always thought I had just a noisy EP8 motor. turns out it was my fidlock bottle just rattling this whole time after replacing it with a traditional bottle cage. 4 years it took me to figure this out lol what a dumbass.

Yeah, I've asked the DT reps on Sea Otter on when we're going to get a 350 series hub with the DF built-in, not via the upgrade path. The answer was that they still see a lot of inventory glut and they want to get rid of that first. Eventually, all their hubs will come with the DF built-in. I mean, this is understandable and reasonable. They now provide a proper wheelset with that tech too, so there's that.
