8/9/2026 1:32am I recently bought a pair of IXS Hack Race because they were on sale and have a hardshell-ish outer, which will hopefully make them survive a few crashes on asphalt pumptracks. So far quite happy with the fit https://www.ixs.com/en/products/ixs-hack-race-ellbogenschoner-schwarz With unlimited budget I probably would have gone for the Arcon LT, they seem real nice for a level 2 pad.

Lead is problematic for multiple reasons. If you need something around the same density (i.e. steel isn't doing it for you) then I suggest 10 carat gold.

Many bike models tend to evolve by growing over time, whether it’s getting a bit more travel or burlier angles with each passing generation. It’s probably fair to say that this has been driven by the general evolution of bike geometry to some extent, so as our industry matures (and with it the collective understanding of what geometry could and should be), brands are taking a closer look at the positioning of each model in their range, and making changes accordingly. That’s exactly what happened with the Propain Hugene, as the latest generation found itself with slightly LESS travel...
