@jonkranked tommy crail rides MTB too and is living in virgin for the winter (according to his insta account). i know the bushwhacking days are over and there have to be safe lips and landings, it's just too over-the-top with traversing sidewalks linking hyper-manicured features. i'm still bitter about brendog's score the year of the Rock. maybe olly's billygoating in that vid above is a hint at what's to come for brendan. have to imagine gee's lines will be pretty aggressive, too. all that said, i hope everyone is safe and smart out there.

Is it insane to anyone that Discovery/ESO hasn't figured out how to show the leader's split time stacked w/ the split up or down of the racer on screen? Let alone indicate which rider is in the gate (Qualified 11th). I constantly have to go to the qualifying PDF to remember how many riders are left to go. Would be simpler to have that on screen The only thing I've seen them do that's helpful w/ the split times is the "knockout" of the 31st rider in Semi-Finals.

It is a flat track, and you are allowed to think that this is not what is good for the sport you are at the top of, no ? If you go extreme, why not add the sea otter to a world cup, it is still downhill in the end. Yet it is not what I or Loris think downhill should be. Some guys might even like Sea otter track, it doesn't make it a good downhill track. Getting flats has a lot to do with the rim structure and lip profile. It maybe that an AL rim deflects and deforms more before pinching the tire then a carbon. I am assuming Santa Cruz is pretty pigeoned holed into running reserve rims where other teams may be able to shop around for a rim sponsor a bit more. That being said, Richie was on Maxxis / DT and flatted, same with Neko.

The derailleur plug-in already exists, but they're so hush-hush about it. Trek and Scott had them on some e-bikes. They apparently have a tiny battery to give you 100 or so shifts in the worst of situations. Dropper is going to require quite a redesign and space is already at a premium at the bottom of a dropper. From what I was told, SRAM went with the Shimano motor mounting pattern for immediate and easy installation onto existing bikes. green lights on the fork/number plate could potentially be a cool addition for trackside fans. A buddy went to supermotocross in chi and said it was a pretty cool addition as it made the leader discernible to his young son. Think a similar set up would be great in dh since trackside (often with no or terrible cell service) it can be fairly impossible to know if the guy who just went by was on a good run or not. as far as radio I don’t think it’s gonna be great. I think a lot of people are taking ESO and the UCI's claims that a 30 rider final and tighter times makes for a better fan experience at face value. I can see where they are coming from with these arguments, because they are basing them on other successful sports, but I don't think they're right. One of the most beautiful and compelling things about downhill racing is that there is no 'formula' for success. You can have the perfect bike, the best preparation, the most dialed team infrastructure, and still get beat by someone who just had the raw...

Mariana Salazar returns to racing in Les Gets! If you don't know, she was diagnosed with cancer a year ago, right after the race in Les Gets. She is finally able to return to racing after being a course sweeper at french national champs. Really this is the best news of the all week! Her fight went completely under the radar, I feel she deserves some recognition.
