I thought this comment, from the Escape Collective's Cape Epic coverage, was interesting and wonder how it stacks uo against Fox Neo... " A few riders using Flight Attendant had buttons in highly convenient locations and noted the need to be able to quickly unlock the suspension when a smaller bump or rut was coming up as the system, as good as it is, seemingly cannot react quickly enough for their needs. "

I've been a bit anti 12 speed and anti-electronic shifting for some time. Not because I'm an old man screaming at the clouds but because I bought them and used them for 2 years and frankly found them heavy and to not really do anything better. However, at least for my e-bikes, I think I'll go with the new Transmission 90 (or whatever it's called) with the GX cassette on my next full power e-bike. I'll stick to 11 speeds on my pedal bikes though. I still think e-bikes need wide ratio 11 speed cassettes from about 10-48, but I...

Has anyone heard anything more about the SRAM "IT issue"? My X0 T-Type mech died (second one) and LBS said they have a box of them for warranty but that SRAM can't process any warranties because their B2B portal is having "IT issues" and has been inaccesible for ~a week. Reps can't log in to their computers, phone system doesn't work etc.

Very curious to see the reviews on the mech transmission. Specifically, how much of the “amazing shifting under load” is really due to the firmware rate limiting the shifts, vs the actual cassette design (Ofc if the system prevents you from dumping gears in a bad place or otherwise shifting like an idiot then the shifting will appear to be better…). Also more curiosity than ever to try and run the direct mount derailleur with a shimano hyperglide chain and cassette….probably need to swap the jockey wheels but otherwise it should work?

If I can add my 2 cents here. I don't think Sram paid Jack, or the team, anything. That whole YT deal is that they run whatever they want because they don't take money from any sponsors. Now I think that was changing because the industry is struggling and they probably saw how much money they were losing out on. My best guess is YT asked Sram to pay to support the team and they said no, so YT doubled down on the TRP/Fox association they had already been building. Vali would be the only one I could see saying...

Maybe not all 40 employees are full time? I know of a biotech company that inflates their staff numbers for the investors by listing e.g. their freelance marketing guy, their interns, cleaning personal, tax consultant, etc. as "staff" although most of them do only get a tiny fraction of their full salary from them.

Most americans dont realize that the german bike market alone is nearly as big as the entire US bike market. We're too busy doing important things like defending the continued use of the imperial unit system and changing map names to the Gulf of America (aka the gulf of small hands and fragile egos).

Sam Hill said... SRAM didn’t even return an email or phone call when he was try to put a bike together most recently. Seems pretty disrespectful to athletes (and champs) that helped push your products for many years. It’s one thing to not resign a rider. It’s another to just ghost them like they never existed!

Isn’t the main problem with influencers the sheer number of them? YouTube is absolutely saturated with people making biking videos of varying quality. The second issue is that many of them were (just about) able to make a living from it when the the going was good. Now it isn’t, they can’t. Whilst I have some sympathy, it never was a sustainable living, and shouldn’t ever have been treated as such. Now the bike industry has contracted, the market isn’t there and they’ll have to move on and find employment like the rest of us do. The mountain influencer scene...

I'll bash them for you. All influencers are awful. Seth's bike hacks was the start of it and ruined everything. Everytime I see any influencer content recommended to me I die a little more inside. Bashing aside, I think the rise of influencers as marketing in mountain biking and cycling in general is a sign of the sport losing its identity. Whether that's good or bad is up to you, but most influencer content I see markets more to out groups and casual people over core riders, and with the covid casual rider kind of phasing out, I wonder if...
