I don't know enough about this stuff to have an informed opinion but fwiw Darren Murphy (of Push) posted a bunch of stuff about flex and torsion when they were developing the Nine One. His conclusion was that the real-world torsional deflection on their fork wasn't significant enough to offset the other gains the design offered. (Can't find links atm but I do remember that that the "hold the front wheel w/ your knees and turn the bars" test was one he was pretty adamant had almost no bearing on real-world performance).

There are a few people who I eagerly await pre-season race footage of, top of the list is Loic and based on his recent story I'd say we aren't disappointed. New/Raw brake calipers, possibly uncovered rear shock finally, new chainstay, new/kinked seat tube? There's too much and yes I am hoping someone posts the screenshots for me.

I can't figure out why anyone making an inverted fork in 2025, especially a single crown inverted fork, wouldn't use the Manitou hex axle to add torsional stiffness. The patent is expired and it adds almost no weight. I imagine a 15mm hex axle is significantly stiffer in torsion than a round 20mm axle, and doesn't require a new front hub. Especially if you're already doing pinch bolts, you can do it the way the Dorado has been doing it since 2002? It's so simple! The concern isn't erosion, its increased negative interaction with hikers, equestrians, etc, and the potential that someone gets caught with a class 3 ebike where only class 1 ebikes are permitted, and the authorities just decide to ban all ebikes (or mountain bikes in general) in that area. I have yet to see or hear of this actually happening.

So much this. The opportunity for land access people to just say "well as even you can't tell the difference anymore unless you physically stop someone and check their machine the easiest thing is just to ban all bikes" I know access issues are different all over the world but the risks here out weigh the gains. " In the US market, access to those options is open to the user, with Specialized saying it’s “up to the rider to switch modes according to local rules and regulations” I trust Specialized are going to be very clear to the dealers...

I'm going to go out on a fairly sturdy limb here and say that the venn diagram of riders who buy the new Levo and use the class 3 thing to plod down the blue Flow trail at Soquel Demo near Specialized HQ (where ebikes are technically not allowed) would look awfully close to a single circle. (Disclosure: I've ridden my ebike there too, but only go there like once a year because its so vanilla.)

You are correct. The 10% baseline stays in place during the "pause". As to your second point, I'm not sure who can afford more pain. I am one of those people who believes China is in fact in a (much) worse position than tjhe US from a government debt, currency and demographics shift perspective, but Americans won't stand for the level of pain Chinese people are culturally willing to tolerate. How does this turn out? Well, there is a greater than 0% chance it ends up something like this...

I'm not sure we've really digested what the last week's political actions really means for the US economy let alone the bike market. If this administration can't find an off ramp to the pending trade war + levying crazy high tariffs fast, I predict this will make the COVID hangover look "not so bad" with respect to bankruptcy in our little world. As to who is at risk, it has a lot more to do with the quality of the balance sheet and a lot less to do with the underlying size of the company. What a mess.

If they're a negotiation tool at all, they don't come from a place of good faith. But that's par for the course. Pun not intended. The USA will always have a lopsided trade balance. It's the biggest consumer market in the world. In the case of China and the USA, think about how many things each produces that the other doesn't (Edit: this lost a bit of its meaning while I was editing it. One thing I want to flag is the possibility of a tariff-evoked credit crunch in the outdoor industry. Though no business is immune, I'd argue businesses with seasonality, long inventory turns (most outdoor industry stuff), and purveyors of elastic goods are extra exposed to the problem. In short, if we see continued softness with respect to consumer spending, prices go up a material amount due to tariffs, the COVID (inventory) hangover lingers, and companies are unable to stay within the covenants of their debt instruments, we might see a whole other level of pain, and this could come to fruition...

Unfortunately you are right, it is very challenging. Few thoughts here... 1) I'll do a basket of goods, not just one item. I would like to do 4-5 items from a few different sports to make this really valuable (and let the user drill down if they care to). Problem here is what items? If I picked a bike, what level bike (build)? I almost want to do something really basic like ODI grips, Maxxis Tires etc, but there are problems there, too. Or maybe I add more items to my basket of goods? If the scraper is working well...

"Small businesses on a growth path are getting slaughtered" That's the intention. Eliminate marketplace competitors either through attrition or acquisition. The largest companies have learned lately that politically-assisted attrition with a side of insider knowledge is cheaper than acquisition so that's what the plan is. In this new order you have coming in, do you have new products or a restocking of the products currently listed on your website? The jerseys look like good options for me and I'm always down to exchange money for goods with a person rather than shareholders.

In the meantime, I have an incoming factory order of a couple thousand mtb pants that are going to be hit with an additional 26% tariff, for 53.9% total import tax. India. That would be all fine and good, if: 1: I thought consumers would be wiling to pay 26% more. LOL. 2: Tariffs would hold at 53.9%. They won't, so I'll be in a permanent hole on this year's inventory. These import taxes will roll away within a few months. Businesses need a predictable environment in which to operate. If I knew the tariffs would actually be permanent and...
