3/15/2025 2:39pm Y'all do realize the people who were trying to get Taiwanese factories to triple their capacity to support the permanent increase in demand that was going to be created by Covid are the same people who thought paying influencers would have good ROI. Could simply be that, absent any external factors, brands are simply realizing that most of us don't give a sh!t, and the rest of us have wised up to the fact social media is just a collection of disguised commercials.

3/15/2025 2:37pm I don't know in the rest of the world, but where I ride (east of France) covid has messed things up quite a bit. We used to organize rides through a messageboard and there could be big rides (up to 20 or 30 people sometimes, a bit of a mess :p), it had started to decline before covid but despite the bike boom during covid, the messageboard is now dead, now there are small groups through whatsapp and other networks like that. People's riding habits have changed, no more big rides, a few buddies here and there, a decent minority...

3/14/2025 10:30pm Took me long enough but here is a FEA of a tubed vs machined CS (take it all with a grain of salt as neither are optimized but its fun to see how the stress goes though the part). Scroll to the bottom: LINK HERE

3/9/2025 11:27pm I mean the IP of Nukeproof really isn't a lot. Not having a go at them, but a few horst link bikes and a couple linkage driven single pivots. Not like they had anything revolutionary, they're bikes are very middle of the road, not in a bad way.

3/9/2025 11:27pm I've seen this as well on Bikeradar which had way more information than most other sites, suggesting they did get the IP as well and some of the staff were returning " BCF has purchased existing Nukeproof intellectual property – this would include the existing bikes in the range, as well as componentry." https://www.bikeradar.com/news/nukeproof-returns

3/9/2025 11:25pm RE: Nukeproof, this is a portion of an interview on Bike-EU with Belgian Cycling Factory CEO Joachim Aerts. Full article is behind a paywall. How big is Nukeproof in relation to Ridley? Ridley is about half the size of Nukeproof in revenue. Nukeproof also includes a series of parts and accessories. We will continue to distribute these. What other assets were included in the take-over? We only acquired the brand, nothing else. To maintain the continuity of the brand, key members of the previous team have already joined us, bringing their expertise and deep understanding of the brand’s DNA. Together...

3/7/2025 1:38am For the XC demons out there - Roval released a sub 1000gram (claimed 998grams) control world cup wheelset today it looks like Must be some of the lightest XC wheels from a big name manufacturer. And with some form of warranty/crash replacement, at least for US customers. Here in europe we dont get the "crash replacement" part of Roval unfortunately. Not sure how good or bad it is for you guys. Priced just around $3000 for you guys, where I live the price converts into about €3500, so quite steep. https://www.specialized.com/us/en/roval-control-world-cup/p/1000218374?…

3/7/2025 1:12am Smart guy, but this is going nowhere. He should consider directing his talents towards a small central mounted miniature drivetrain in a box. Of course it would not be compatible with e-bikes, so that's a problem too.
