Good feedback everyone. I do agree that DD's feel nice, but the sidewall support is more or less the same as EXO+. I'm relieved to find out I'm not crazy. I'm going to continue trying out the DD's with inserts for my ebike, and see if I can get through the year on the reserve AL/HD hoop that I have on it without murdering it. I typically murder 1 ex511/reserve AL-HD per year, so that wouldn't be pretty standard. I think it's time to bite the bullet and just go to DH casing rear tires for my enduro bike and...

Hey folks, been reading here. Just wanted to chime in to say I fully agree that vertical compliance is a myth. At best it’s misunderstood. The idea that a frame is deflecting enough to provide any meaningful results when the tyre has over 2” of travel is daft. But marketing exists and here we are. I do believe certain materials and designs can help dissipate vibrations better than others but soft tyres and comfy grips will do much more. Lateral compliance is a real thing though. I often get asked about my ‘flex stay’ design - “will it snap”, etc...

Flex stay can't rebound undamped. It doesn't move without the shock moving.

The layout of the top rocker/dogbone/pushlink on these Production Privees reminds me of the Knolly Fugitive/Delirium/Chilcotin. Obviously the lower part of the suspension design is different (Knolly is Horst Link, Production Privee is a single pivot swingarm):

This thread should probably be retitled something like "Industry news and discussion" since its original scope has expanded...and hopefully continues to expand into more positive news

Yeah, that's usually how it goes down in europe with illegal mtb trails that the land owner doesn't want: they go over them with machinery and destroy them. With surrons or more powerful ebikes this will happen faster and more. This discussion is very us-centric. In most parts of europe motos are banned in the woods or mountains on trails. In many parts of the alps there are de facto bans of bikes on hiking trails in national parks or countries like Austria or bavaria sometimes enforced by rangers. Also in regions like Vinschgau that market themselves as mtb destinations...

I think we missed the boat.. All bikes with throttles whether MTN or Road/commuter bikes (thats you RAD POWER) should have been classified as Mopeds. You need to register it and have a plate. Maybe not a Driver license but at least made street legal.. But as i said at the start, the boat has left the dock. There are too many DIY kits along with many other brands making these machines. Nothing will happen on the laws until someone gets seriously hurt. Just like the dog walker with 6 dogs on a Bike only trail yesterday. He knew he...

I'm getting the impression the demographic is different depending where you are. I'm sure there are plenty of responsible illegal ebike and Surron owners here in the UK, but the public perception is they're more likely to be used to snatch someone's mobile than to ride off road. As mentioned I've seen kids accompanied by parents on video, but my own personal experience of them whilst in the woods is groups of adolescents hiding their faces and my gut feeling is they wouldn't respond too well to being approached. We don't get too many issues with motos, but I'd imagine...

This is austria today. If you carry your bike or surron over that fence you gonna have the land owner or employees of the land owner hunting you down by car. Yes you can try to evade them but they also will make sure that the trails on their ground won't be much fun on a bike because they will build obstacles. And sooner or later they will know your identy because they follow you to your car or home and you'll get fined. In Austria in a case like that this can be a few hundred to thousands of...

One of the guys in the pic below threatened to shoot a cyclist few weeks back. You guys wanted Pandora's Box opened. I grew up gaining permission from other land owners to ride with their kids on bicycles then motos. Anywhere we took a bike, a moto poached & did not care if we got kicked out. Anywhere we were permitted to ride 2 wheels (usually just swapping out at each others property if we each had a bike), motos would poach & not care. E-bikes are just the bastard child of both categories. Making them dead silent thanks to...

Meh. Still not excited about the idea of electronics on my bike where a mechanical application is perfectly sufficient. IMO electronic shifting just adds a bunch of weight, price and complexity for no good, tangible reason what so ever.

Make tiers to how it functions. The NX Ochain has lead installed into it to make it a little heavier and 2° of disengagement. Then the GX is a smidge lighter but it contains more degrees of disengagement. The Eagle Pro Premium will give you 360° of disengagement as well a cool bird and the additional benefit of less mass moving on your body because you just emptied your wallet to buy it.
