Not technically a mountain bike tech rumor, but it's very funny to listen to gravel riders insist they aren't just reinventing 1990s mountain bikes and then see product releases like this... https://www.bikeradar.com/news/rockshoxs-rudy-xl-gravel-fork 60mm of travel and clearance for 2.25" tires. This thing would have crushed the NORBA XC circuit. All it's missing is some stanchion boots.

Because this forum thread opened on October 3, 2023, Spomer, Brines, and myself are planning to record a podcast recapping the last 24 months in the bike industry and looking forward to what's coming in the next few years. Two requests from the rest of you in the peanut gallery: 1. Let us know what questions you want to hear discussed by Spomer, Brines, and myself on the "Will more companies be shutting down in the next 12-24 months?" podcast. 2. Take a look at "THE LIST" I've included below and let me know what comments, corrections, or additional info...

Technology is not a replacement for bike maintenance. You simply have to tear your bike down once a year if you're riding a good amount and make sure you touch everything. Too many mountain bikers are in the ride it until it breaks or there is a problem mindset.

No issues with waterproofing in mechanical systems. Odd how mechanical is still more precise, faster, and cheaper than electric but everyone needs “new tech.”

Yes, under German law, misrepresenting a customer’s statutory rights can potentially constitute several criminal offenses - including criminal fraud, depending on the exact circumstances. Furthermore, the statutory consumer protection rights of the German civil code are mandatory and inalienable in nature and under most circumstances can not be waived to the detriment of the consumer. This also means that any...

This might be getting a little off topic but in Australia it's an offence to even misrepresent a customer's statutory rights under our consumer law. For example: telling a prospective customer that their rights don't apply even before they've purchased anything... It is similar in Germany/Europe?

afaik „ Please understand that we can only ship your bike under the condition that the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply.“ is illegal in Germany and the whole EU. You can’t exclude certain customer rights with such a clause.
