In addition to coming back to gravity racing with Team Axess, Nukeproof will also join the XC World Cup circus now as part of Team KMC. We'd say this makes perfect sense, as the Nukeproof brand is far more likely to capitalize and convert on the MTB buzz in XC now (a discipline that is getting gnarlier and more fun to watch with each passing year) than Ridley. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nukeproof to go XC racing with Team KMC Nukeproof KMC will remain the main and title sponsor for the coming years on our road to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games...

If you're Amaury Pierron and you have a mountain of spare derailleurs waiting for you at the team truck, I'm sure DH Transmission is lovely to use. It's probably pretty durable, and shifts great under power. But as a customer, I can't imagine ever justifying a $500 derailleur on a DH bike, not to mention having one more thing to forget to charge before riding. Maybe ten years from now the price of electronic shifting will come back down to earth, but for now it's crazy to me to use a $500 tool in a vulnerable spot on a DH...

That last thing I want to see is an e-bike from Raaw. With so much turbulence in the industry they're better off just sticking to their core lineup and continuing to refine it. Plenty of other brands to choose from if you're so set on an e-bike.

12/11/2025 8:32am But then again, judging by that criterium, literally nothing that happened in cycling in the last 12 months could be nominated for any sort of innovation award. It’s all just been very small incremental refinement - which I’m honestly totally fine with, because don’t fix what’s not broken (and also for that same reason: 32“ wheels can go do one).

So as the year and this thread draws to a close, what were 2025's most significant innovations? What could get nominated for the Innovation Of The Year Awards? 32" wheels? That seems like nominating a shoe size. Fox's Glidecore air piston? That seems awfully similar to what Formula and perhaps others have used already. Some aspect of Shimano Di2? Maybe the wiggly shifter buttons or the angled brake levers? I really hope the greatest innovation isn't founders coming out of retirement in hope of saving their foundlings from extinction.

Yup, this thread is what brought me to Vital. So far I've just enjoyed reading, but with the impending closure, I decided it was worth making an account to cast my vote for annual versions of the tech-rumors thread.

I asked about FA Vivid air and coil when it first appeared on the RS site earlier this year. Was told OEM only. But I don’t think I’ve see a single bike released with it… maybe that’s about to change?

You need to have the crank sensor and all that junk that goes with it atm. It needs a few sensors like the fox live valve stuff and not bike specific imo.

Here's another 2 cents. I love Vital (and its forums) and I love Pinkbike (and its comments). I've followed both for as long as I can remember. I started mountain biking when I was 12 in the year 2000. I've been around. Both sites are great. Both offer different resources. Both serve the sport we love. But I don't understand why so many Vital readers hate Pinkbike. Like, really really dislike a site that has been so important in building a positive image for mountain biking. I've seen more anti-Pinkbike/anti-that-other-site/anti-rhymes with StinkBike comments on Vital than I can remember. Conversely...

The counterpoint to this, is that having giant threads declutters the forum. I like the balance of the "The Hub" showing the ten(ish) large but active threads and then the rest being smaller ephemeral topics that are based on news or more specific topics. For example the tire nerd thread is split between real tire discussion and then posts from people asking "which tire should I use for X bike in Y location?" - if those turn into individual threads I certainly won't be reading & engaging in them. I like that I can open Vital, get to the threads...

As others have pointed out, this thread specifically thrives on a healthy mix of actual tech rumors and lighthearted banter / memes. But for that, the conversation needs some sort of continuity.
