In honor of the 1000th page, we should vote on the best meme of 2025: 👍🏻 for “Crab” 👎🏻 for “6-7” edit: Carcinization is the antithesis of innovation. Maybe we should keep crab talk on the crab talk forum and keep this thread focused on MTB tech rumors and/or innovation.

A water bottle *is* a range extender. And it gives you more range than any battery 😜

Shredda rear looks good but only comes in a gravity casing. Trail casings are working well for me. I'm light and I ride light.

What is to say the entire broadcast start to finish needs to be live? What if they run more riders, top 40, tape all the runs, put a highlights package / feature certain runs for when the show starts and then blend to live coverage for the top 20ish riders? You still have the opportunity to show full runs from standout rides early in the day while running 1 min or less gaps for a lot of riders until the top qualifiers come down. Being in Whiteface I have to say the most interesting time to watch on track was...

I’m gonna disagree. First off. No one is watching WC downhill that isn’t a huge fan of Mtbs already. Making the broadcast 30-60 minutes isn’t gonna change that. It’s hard to even find the broadcast if you are looking for it. No one is stumbling across it. So let’s not pretend making it shorter will bring in more fans. If you want it to be shorter watch it for time delay and fast forward. Second, you guys kinda mentioned it on the last podcast, but there should be less emphasis on qualies, not more. I feel like there is currently...

My two cents. I like watching “second tier” riders right along side the pointy end dudes. Especially when you get to see a rider develop over a few seasons. The rider that starts to qualify more regularly, then becomes a top 15-20 dude, then top 10, and finally a podium threat. I like to see this on the same courses as Loic and Jackson, it gives me scale. I love WC racing, I pay to watch. I am not going to suddenly start paying close attention to IXS Cups. I’ll look at the results of a Monster Energy Series race...

That proto frame goes way back. I shot this photo of it in the early fall of 2023. Sorry for poor quality. The obvious heel rub and linkage swap-out (on your more current photo) shows it's seen a lot of hours. The guy riding it started working for a different bike company, so he may have offloaded this one to another industry friend. At the time, I was thinking it was maybe a Diamondback prototype that got canceled/never saw the light of day. He was fairly open with it; it was spotted at local Seattle area watering hole(s), etc.

Radials have been worth it for me. I love the damped feel they offer. On a MM supersoft trail casing front and Albert soft trail casing rear, running 22psi front, 24psi rear. They grip well, roll well, and dampen chatter better than anything I've ridden. No wooden feel like a Maxxis DH casing and roll much faster than a Maxxis...

This might not be your problem looking at your location, but one of the best things I found for applying rim tape is warming up the surface. Make sure the rim is super clean with some acetone on a rag (or IPA), then let it dry and warm up with a hair dryer or heat gun (careful with a heat a gun on carbon obviously...) This normally makes the adhesive stick way stronger than if it goes on cold. It might vary between brands but I found it only needed to be below 16ish Celsius to be an issue, which...

2 weeks ago I finally got around to having time to set up the new crankbrothers synthesis wheelset from vital fantasy (still so stoked thank you vital and crankbrothers). Pulled the tires and tannus tubeless off my oem set (which I can mount by hand without Tyre levers). Try to install them on the new set. 29r front goes on easy by hand. 27.5 rear is unbelievably tight to get the last little bit and needs levers to get on. Won’t hold air longer than 20min. Spray it with soapy water and it blows bubbles around the valve stem and...

Soon AI will design the bikes, the AI will scrape the web for what is and isn't important in bike design... it will find this thread. We will then be delivered the true final boss... crab industrial design, with crab link and headset crab claw routing. It will simultaneously be the end of days, and the beginning of days. Related to crabs... does anyone have any inside scoop on SC releases? I'm interested in a new trail bike, I'm fighting the urge to go with a hightower 4, but the SC sizing and geo work really well for me. Despite...

Anyone had any warranty issues with 70/90 parts? Just got a new bike w/ 70 derailleur/shifter in the shop. If the shifting works in the harder gears it wants to throw the chain over the largest cog occasionally. SRAM is sending a replacement derailleur, but maybe it could be the shifter, too much cable throw in certain gears. If only there was a way to limit the derailleur travel, say with a small screw, in case things weren't operating perfectly. Oh well, maybe in version 3 or 4.
