7/3/2024 12:15pm Not to turn this into another brake discussion but I appriciate that they havent felt the need to change things every few years. I am very happy with my Maximas and even though I've had them since launch, and is the biggest nerd, I've not wanted any others. From what I've read about the Lewis is that almost everyone just leaves them with the same leverange setting as trickstuffs are any way...

7/3/2024 12:14pm Yeah they are. It's just a shame that Lewis have highlighted how little they've done since they first came out.

7/3/2024 12:14pm to their excuse the brakes seem to work really good and with tons of power and modulation, together with a premium finish quality. but going back to the roots and offer all colors and something new wouldn't kill them

7/3/2024 12:13pm Am I the only one who comes directly to the last page and then starts going backwards? Feels like watching Memento, but the plot line is carbon bike killed the mechanical drivetrain

7/3/2024 12:09pm It's not that simple though either. Just because someone has money, that doesn't mean that they automatically consider the newest product the "latest and greatest." They could just as easily consider high end cable drive trains to be superior because they save weight. I'm sure there's plenty of wealthy riders that will only run XX1, or XTR on their bikes for saving weight, or long adventure rides.

7/3/2024 12:08pm No one in my riding area that knows what their buying will buy an inline shock on a 140+mm bike. It limits to an extreme who will buy the bike. Out local spot its basically pavement like base with techy chunder for a max of 500m/1640ft vertical laps that you usually climb as well at least a couple before hitting the shuttles. So an inline is usually a huge turn off because they fail faster. Also that's a lot of air to insulate a damper that has less chance of bleeding off heat because of it. Damping is going to...

7/3/2024 12:00pm I’m gonna go against the grain of most of you. I actually think the wireless only is a smart move. (Presuming they are releasing an alloy model that can run mechanical drivetrains). Having an already premium carbon bike that can only run wireless makes it seem a little “more premium.” People that drive Rivians and Teslas to the trail head will love that their bike is exclusively wireless. While the people that drive 20 year old lifted Tacomas will get the option of the alloy version. I’m sure specialized has done their homework and they know that the amount of...

7/3/2024 11:52am It's not proprietary per say, however the long, sad road of specialized suspension made for their bikes has many bikes in the world left useless. I currently have two 10 year old S-works bikes that used their forks from 10 years ago that need lower cups that no longer exist to put on a reg fork and there are only a few service places that seem to be able to service them. Specialized isn't in it alone, Cannondale and Trek are both in the same boat with specialized shocks, but all these special shocks that only they use are usually...

7/3/2024 11:51am If you own an EVO, dont buy the stumpy 15................. The geo is basically the same lol. Leverage update is irrelevant when the cascade link exists.... You cant even run mechanical drivetrains lmao. This update is just a way to combine the stumpy and EVO models together, less SKU like trek.

7/3/2024 10:16am Elon Musk talked about delays in his FSD prediction - the error was thinking of innovation as exponential improvements. Instead he said it’s more like a series of stacked logarithmic curves, every so often there’s a big jump followed by small incremental gains, until the next big jump. I think this is true for any industry and I’m not sure MTB is any different. Personally I don’t think bikes have plateaued, we’re just in a period of incremental improvements until the next jump. Who knows when it will be or what it looks like. But I’m willing to bet that...

7/3/2024 10:12am RE: New Stumpy... My big takeaway is when the company who arguably has the largest capex budgets in the industry keeps outputting new models that are small evolutions (Epic EVO, new Stumpy, don't forget Jordan beat Finn/Loic on the "old" demo last season), not revolutions, that tells me we've really hit a plateau of technological progression. This isn't a bad thing, per se, unless you are in the business of selling bikes to bike nerds who used to think they needed the latest/greatest every year. FWIW, this has also happened in the moto, snowmobile, ski, road bike etc world, too...

7/3/2024 9:48am "Welcome, We focused on amazing, fascinating ,unbelievable and bikes. Here is an old bike.......it is bad. Our new bike is everything you ever wanted with all the things that are good and no bad things. Here is a person who agrees. In short, people who want a bike will like it because we made it better. This is a person.....he is great also. The things we have improved are better things now. 'I like it a lot' Thankyou fellow humans" I need proof that wasn't Ai generated.

7/3/2024 9:46am Isn't that kind of the point of the Stumpjumper though? It's the Toyota Camry (or maybe more appropriately the Tacoma) of mountain bikes. An easy to ride and live with bike that appeals to the fat part of the bell curve.

7/2/2024 4:26pm Just found some more photos on Twitter: DJI are borderline a household name around the globe. If they can channel their technology into efficient motors and lighter battery tech; this could push the whole industry forward. Would be nice to see them partner with a larger brand to gain credibility and integrate into a proven platform.

7/2/2024 3:08pm To falsify your personal anecdotal evidence, here's mine. I've never had great experiences with shimano brakes, and happily choose, purchase, and run exclusively sram brakes on all of my bikes. I've had XT, XTR, SLX, and Deore brakes, and every single one of them required a biweekly bleed and broke and had inconsistent bite points. I've been on codes for 4 years now on trail/enduro bikes and I bleed them once every 6 months. Literally never had a problem, EVER. Happily running mavens on the downhill bike and reveling in their immense power. Even loved my Levels. G2's kinda sucked.

7/2/2024 3:07pm Thoroughly convinced that most folks will get R's specced on their new bike, run it a few times, experience an issue then make the sweeping decision that all brakes from SRAM are bad. Code RSC's are great brakes to be honest, they've just got a different feel. They wouldn't have survived on the downhill circuit before Mavens if they weren't great brakes.
