They tired to slow a very fast track down this year by making lines tighter and adding in some extra turns/chicanes. I believe this is what lead to far more DQ's, nothing to do with tape/poles. The guys know where their going, they are just trying to do it as fast as possible. With how fast the track was and some of those intentional new turns, it made it very easy to get off line with little room for correction.

Strong disagree. At the point where you are taking quali laps you know exactly where you're going and where the course is. Tape wouldn't have made it any different.

Jackson’s DSQ had nothing to do with the poles themselves, other than the wind blowing him outside of them. If it had been tape instead, the same thing happens except he’s tangled up in tape too.

Yes but have you seen a sc frame vs an intense frame? Definitely worth the extra money

Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

Can we get a separate thread for requesting separate threads so it doesn’t clog up this thread?

my 2 cents after spending some time on the bike is that I really want to spend more time on the bike. A couple anecdotes here: I was surprised at how well it pedalled and the lack of heft that I was expecting after looking at it. After giving it back for a month I had to film on it with no time to get familiar again. First trail was a rapid North Van classic that I have ridden a bunch and I was immediately sending it. It was extremely poppy while still being planted, able to pull for all...

Yes, MSA was Jackson on DHX2 coil, LP was LMS on DHX2 coil, then before that, AP4 won Lenzerheide on a Vivid Air.

I can’t remember if it was Charlie Cs wet track did video or somewhere else, but evidently WYN’s crash was on a jump further down the track. Downtime post race with Neko and company indicated the same. I thought it was the big jump everyone was casing as well this whole time, but I guess it’s further down.

Size 14, just rode on these and have used the Catalyst pedals as well. Generally ride the Kona Wah Wah's. I am sold on the Stamp Evo. Even on the Wah Wah's which are a pretty big pedal, I curl my toes for some reason and end up with foot pain. I have used the Catalysts before; the length is supportive but I ride a bit duck footed and the pedals weren't wide enough for me. The EVO's seem like a goldilocks. Foot was supported all the way though and I was comfortable in my normal stance, which also helps...

I haven't ridden these specifically but do have a pair of Tag Metals allow pedals that are 115x120, so just as wide as these but a little shorter. I've got size 12. I found the pedals to be very stable and gripped like an angry bear. I felt though that they were too wide when cornering. I like or tend to roll my foot on top of the outside pedal when cornering and with the wider pedal this wasn't happening. I've since moved to a narrower pedal like the stamp large but mostly because I tagged a rock with my...

Having ridden bikes from several major brands, my SC Megatower has easily been the best I’ve owned when it comes to product support, parts availability, and clear, reliable customer service. I used to make fun of people who had an SC, but after dealing with repeated warranty issues on other bikes, I get it now. The Mega is a sick bike, the VPP suspension rides great, but honestly, it’s the overall ownership experience that really sets Santa Cruz apart. I'm in the market for a shorter travel ripper, and SC is at the top of the list, even if it's...
