4/16/2026 9:59am Have sidekick on my dh rig and onyx in my trail bike. Sidekick is very quiet. You can hear it on a stand but not on a trail. Same ride experience sound wise imo. New sidekick pro is quite a bit lighter than the onyx vesper. Think it might be time to make the switch in the trail bike. They also roll even faster than the onyx.

4/16/2026 9:58am Personally I don’t think it’s cool when brands post their own stuff here if it’s not being discussed directly. The Cascade guy is great because he weighs in on the conversation but just dropping your stuff here when nobody is talking about it comes across as a bit of a lazy marketing strategy. Post it on instagram and if people think it’s interesting it’ll get picked up. That being said it’s an awesome looking prototype!

4/16/2026 9:57am Avinox is over-hyped. This new Oso is just about ideal as a non-ebike owner. It seems to be very thoughtfully designed. My only hangup is the price ($2k more than the old one). I still hope they do an SL version. Also, I think the modular dropouts bode well for the next HD6. I heard a rumor that will be dual 29. Or will it be the HD7? 6... 7? hmm.

4/16/2026 9:56am This is exactly why suspension on bikes doesn’t work! Springs don’t dissipate energy they just transfer it to the other side! /s

4/16/2026 9:55am I know I'm a bit late to the Shimano pedal party, but I'd like to congratulate them for out Xpedo'ing Xpedo. I feel like most saint platform pedals since the OG PX80's have fallen a little.... flat? You can still get the PX80's, although a cheaper finish and likely a bearing quality downgrade, from Shimano in the GR500's. I feel like they've been chancing the popularity of these pedals since they dropped them.

4/16/2026 9:52am I've got to say, Horst link bikes that have the shock mounted to the seat stay just feel a bit dead to me, mounting it to the rocker or link just feels a lot more lively. No idea why

4/14/2026 2:51pm Not sure what the patent situation is like with Cannondale's lefty forks, but they use needle bearings because they need them. Leftys only have one stanchion and they need something to prevent rotation, thus the needle bearings. As for why not use it on conventional forks, it incredibly expensive compared to classic forks. While precisely grinding the insides and outsides of an aluminium tube is anything but easy I'd imagine, additionally grinding three (Ocho, previous Cannondale forks had four) flat surfaces that have to be smooth for the needle bearings and have a tight angular tolerance (as close to 120°...

4/14/2026 1:44pm Gotta agree here. Maybe I'm oh so very special but as soon as the whole idler became a thing, literally the first thing that comes to mind is "let's try moving it around with the suspension", I think trying to patent that so broadly, even just by putting it on a chainstay and calling it something so unique to be patented sounds hard to respect. Guess I was totally gonna design a bike and now I won't,thanks!

4/14/2026 12:20pm Ya know, I'm changing my tune about 32" wheels. I don't really have all that much interest in owning a 32" bike, and I fully expect most, if not all of the first 32" bikes to not be in my wheelhouse... But right now, I'd kill for anything that isn't related to an ebike to read about. Never before have I yearned to digest some bike stuff that just involved the measly 250w that I struggle to put out. So... bring on the 32" content please, I am primed and ready for it.

4/14/2026 11:28am You should also call out Canfield while you are at it. Patenting three holes in a frame or a variant of the Horst Link is as bogus as Tony Ellsworth's claims.
