All of Sram’s new road brakes, released after DB 8s, Mavens and Motives, still use DOT, strangely enough. (If anyone cares.)

Let me introduce you to my friend shimano... lol Dominions have kind of the worst of both worlds, lots of lever travel and a short ramp that goes from initial bite to rear tire lockup very quickly. Ride T4V4's and Dominions back-to-back in steep loose over loose conditions and you will appreciate the power and control that the hopes gift you with less lever travel. Don't get me wrong I like my dominions; my 2 primary bikes run both the T4V4's and A4's, but the A4's are not easy to keep from locking up in situations where the hopes have...

You know aside from the carbon, the shock layout, the yoke, the tube diameter, the paint work, the branding, the build, it's pretty much a knolly.

This is spot on. I have probably 5000 miles on Megatower V1 and 2000 miles on V2. The SC lower link VPP bike have a "simple" but effective kinematic that can highlight differences in shock characteristics and performance. Shorter travel bikes seem to typically be optimized around a single shock and base tune, when you deviate from that it's uncharted waters. You might end up with something really good or something bad. From a philosophical standpoint I think more MTB journalism outlets need to dial in on this. Testing different shocks on different frames with different riders is a huge...

In regard to front axles and stiffness of inverted forks, the angular deflection of a shaft is defined as θ=(T*L)/(J*G). The key variables for axles are J (polar moment of inertia since we're talking about circles) and G (shear modulus of the material). J for a circular cross section is J(r1,r2)=(π*((r1^4)-(r2^4)))/2 where r1 is the OD and r2 is the ID (zero if solid). As for G, the shear modulus of steel is approximately 3x that of aluminum. Now for a comparison between 15 and 20 mm axles... Lets say we have a solid 15 mm axle and want to...

I am finding that the products from outdoor gear companies branching out into bike is often better than that from traditional bike brands. I'm a big fan of my OR jerseys and gloves, and I have some Patagonia bike shorts that are ~6 years old and still awesome (plus a couple pairs of their pants that are only like a year old but my favorites). My theory is they actually employ actual garment designers that do the sport, rather than contract it out to a garment contract factory in Asia where the designer's never actually biked but will happily slap...

I would assume it's more of a customer/market segment where users will pay the premiums associated with goods/brand premiums. And boy oh boy does the bird love charging an absolute Brinks truck for any piece of gear, and customers line up to pay. Economics, man. From my perspective, it's cool to see the outerwear companies start to trickle into bikes. I've been really impressed with Outdoor Research's catalog and Patagonia is starting to make some good waves too. But I'll stick to my akta gear. Shoutout the small guy.

I do not believe the rumors about chisels and epic evos being done. Specialized straight up lied when they released the stumpy 15, saying they were not going to release an Evo. A rep let slip that they were saving the moniker for “something special” but “official sources” kept saying “oh no no stumpy Evo just a stumpy from here on out.” Obviously that was not the case. Brands are fighting viciously to clear old inventory, and the worst thing that could happen to a 2022 chisel sitting on a sales floor somewhere is news of a new chisel on...

In BC/AB/SK and Most of MB its not a thing, Ontario and Quebec, pretty much every reserve does a thriving trade in Dip, Darts, Grass and Gas. Mines 40 mins away, and Im enjoying a lovely 25milly Lip Pilly presently... But out west you gotta have a hookup from out east ship it out. Or risk ordering online and having our border dorks seize it. On Topic... the new story post by Lucas Cruz/Norco on the 'gram has a peek at the new Freeride pony thats replacing the Shore Wink
