5/7/2026 10:38am I did some napkin math to see what things look like. Assumptions are: The linkage allows the rear axle to move roughly in the same plane as the seat tube 170mm travel in that plane Effective seat tube = 77.5 degrees, so assume actual seat tube = 75 degrees You end up with, sin (15 degrees)*170mm, which results in 4.4cm rearward movement. So if my shitty math gets to 4.4cm, I find it reasonable that the frame has 3cm rearward movement

5/7/2026 9:51am I can guarantee they won't be able to show a single graph though (like for axle path) because DW think's he's the Wizard of Oz or something and no one can see behind his magic curtain.

5/7/2026 9:50am See, I dislike comments like this because instead of commenting on the actual merits of my microspline hatred you claim that it stems from a lack of "ability" and that I am not "worthy" of wrenching because of my opinions. At no point did I say I struggle with any of it, my argument is an will always be that the XD driver is just a fundamentally better system to deal with. Not only does it provide a better interface for a cassette to sit on, but it makes the livability of a cassette significantly easier. Instead of relying on...

5/5/2026 9:48am I stripped a lockring during the industry's COVID hangover and none of the bike stores near me had spares. "You too, huh?" they all asked me. Awful design. At least I now know how easy it is to do so I won't do it again.

5/5/2026 9:47am Microspine drivers are a blight against humanity and should die in a fire along with the stupid plastic spacer they require to prevent Shimano cassettes from creaking like a haunted house. The only thing that might be worse than the microspine interface and its woefully anemic, made of cheese, lock ring might be the actual cassettes themselves which in the year of our lord 2026 still are half singe piece pinned garbage that falls apart and half stamped metal plates with spacers. Seriously, 12 speed shimano stuff is the most disappointing experience I've ever had with a drivetrain. I hate...

5/5/2026 9:45am Re: new saint. 12spd long cage saint would be super rad, especially if xt&xtr mechanical moves to dual spring instead of a clutch. But I need to get assurance if I’m retarded or not; it’s been mentioned now that this theoretical 12spd saint would retain a clutch for those who are “not concerned about efficiency.” What in the hell does a clutch have to do with drivetrain efficiency? Besides slightly affecting suspension feel, more so if your bike has a lot of chain growth, how would a clutch vs dual spring have any effect on the what the bike feels...

5/5/2026 9:43am Saw the new Maxxis DHF2 or however they will call it on an Enduro-Mag tester‘s bike. So I assume they will be released soon. I refer to the tire that is run pretty frequently by Goldstone for example

5/4/2026 3:35pm I imagine it'll integrate with Flight Attendant. If so, you'll be able to define the different degrees of float based on what Flight Attendant is determining you're doing at the time. Climbing? 3º. Descending? 16º. Want something else? Tweak it in the app. That's probably more difficult to pull off than I think...but I bet they're working on it!

5/1/2026 11:38am I think one of the largest "We're not in Kansas anymore" moments I had when I began working for a component manufacturer after years in bikes shops was when I had the insignificance of aftermarket sales explained to me. Don't get me wrong, every brand worth their salt is going to support aftermarket product bc why leave money on the table, but OE sales are king in the bike industry and ultimately OE sales drives every design decision. SRAM gets to push the convenience of full SRAM spec by limiting cross compatibility. For brands like Canyon, Specialized, etc., who are...

4/30/2026 11:58am I don't think this is really true. The transmission cassette was reshaped to move the granny cog outboard. Eagle began with a dished cassette. If you measure from the back of the cassette where it indexes against the hub, you will see that the new transmission cassette is exactly 3mm less dished than the old eagle cassette which compensates for the shift from a 52 to 55mm chainline in the granny gear. I compared the XX SL transmission cassette to a 10-52t xx1 eagle cassette so if this is different on like some other versions; I have honestly no idea...

4/29/2026 9:29am I dont think there will be many bikes where ochain is used running 32 inch wheels in the back, they limit movement too much on downhills
