5/19/2026 10:23am I’m not pro-Evil but dude this is like bringing up the Pinto as a reason not to get a new Ford. There may be plenty of relevant and current reasons but this isn’t one.

5/19/2026 10:20am Be so cool to see an Evil DH bike again. When Evil first launched with the Revolt in alloy I think they had quite a few warranty frames. They replaced all or nearly all. Not sure if material, fabrication, heat treating or what, but I remember a lot of them breaking. That was like 15 years ago, if not longer. I think the Undead (the carbon DH bike) were much more reliable. Then they shifted their focus to trail and enduro bikes. Since then, Sorge and others have ridden their enduro (Wreckoning) bike at Rampage and such without seeing that...

5/14/2026 3:17pm Off topic but everyone in BJJ is on juice, it’s like saying Ronnie Coleman isn’t the greatest bodybuilder cuz of PEDs. You have to assume a lot of mtb racers are on PEDs, there’s no way the testing is any good. They can’t even figure out how to route a b line.

5/14/2026 3:14pm People also just get bored of one thing. We've been riding enduro bikes for years now. I ride exactly the same trails as I used to on the fleet of enduro bikes I've had over the years, but now I do it on an optic built like an enduro bike (but with 140/125 travel). Same trails, different dynamics. lots of market lost to e-bikes obviously but for the rest, it'll come back around I think.

5/13/2026 10:55am I feel bad already about cluttering tech rumors with a politics post. Lets leave it here and I'll let someone make/revive a politics thread if they want to bitch more. In terms of thermoplastic vs epoxy carbon and the repair of frames, are carbon repairers able to work with thermoplastic? There are two carbon repairers in my city that do excellent work on bikes. All fairly affordable and straightforward. What happens if I approach them with a broken thermoplastic carbon frame? Ignoring theoretical repairability, is it currently practical/possible to fix?

5/13/2026 9:20am Well yeah, but it's stupid. It devalues the brand. It would be better to just list the bike at the lower price, make that the retail price shown, than to list a brand new model that doesn't seem to have had any press or marketing yet at a marked down sale price. Spots been in a tough spot for a while, and I honestly find what they're doing with the leaf spring link super interesting and want them to succeed.

5/12/2026 3:23pm This is a cool bike and I feel like we should be talking more about it in the "MTB Tech Rumors" thread than the environmental impact of thermoplastics and carbon fibre. I love a simple, metal bike that can take a beating and it makes me think of a RAAW Madonna, but with a shorter rear end. At $3400, it's priced right in between the Madonna R ($2900cad) and Madonna 3.2 ($3900)

5/12/2026 10:56am Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

5/12/2026 10:53am You looking specifically at that pic? If so, that’s not his bike in the pic. He’s just unloading it. In other pics from the same day, he’s on his usual bike. But to confirm- levers are not flat enough, bars are rolled back, no stem spacers for that high stack, old fork, no ochain, diff tire set up. Sorry I rambled. Dif bike haha Now in regard to ochain… I’m definitely curious about that! He was the main guy prototyping higher/different degrees… and now it’s Sram. So it’ll be interesting to see how that’ll play out
