This thread is for tech rumors and news. How you feel about your ebike is neither. Feel free to have that conversation anywhere else.

Yeah, I mean you just have to watch the videos of the likes of Reece, Bernard & Brendan absolutely tearing the wheels of their ebikes to realise it’s definitely the big, heavy, cumbersome bike that’s really limiting their ability to ride & have fun. It’s 100% not the person on top, for sure. FWIW, having had full power ebikes, an SL Kenevo & back to full power they all have their place. I think the KSL is a great in between bike, for those who arn’f fit enough to hang with a bunch of fit riders, those who want to...

Weights are meaningless at this point the only frame piece that looks production finished is the rear triangle but the main frame definitely is still not completed look at that headtube thing looks like something from a DH bike

lols 200g. The equivalent Commencal mid travel frame to my plastic one is over 1000g difference. I don’t care about the weight of this as it looks awesome but I’m guessing it’s up to a couple pounds heavier (900g) than a carbon xc rig.

On the contrary, IMO, legs win races, not 200gram bike differences

Uuuuum... Insider info on the shock strokes? Tongue It's quite possible the truth is in between the values, yeah. Bring the two travels together by a milimeter on each side and you're quite near a 2,5 leverage ratio for example. Bring them together by 2 mm on each side (4 mm total) and you're almost at a leverage ratio of 2. 155 and 170 sounds much better than 157 and 168.

One odd thing with the Oso... 155mm of travel with a 60mm stroke shock and 170mm of travel with a 65mm stroke shock would mean that last 5mm of shock stroke has an average leverage ratio of 3. Having a leverage ratio around 3 for the last little bit of travel while the average leverage ratio for the first 60mm of shock stroke is 2.58 would be very weird. So it likely has more than 155mm with a 60mm stroke or less than 170mm with a 65mm stroke. Or the leverage curve is shaped like a U, but I think...

Might aswell buy aluminium wheels at that point with those weights And please don't talk about lifetime warranty, a good dtswiss rim is around 70 bucks, Even if you manage to wreck 5 rims in few years which is unlikely you are still on a better position in terms of pricing

i have no idea if the jack rumor is true, but YT's race presence is virtually non-existent these days. check out our reader survey data from the last 10 years. in 2018, YT was one of the top bikes to buy for those intending on buying a new bike. over the years they've declined significantly. does lack of racing presence have anything to do with that? i realize there are PLENTY of other factors here, but some podiums and press may not hurt?

My frustrations are directed more at the UCI and the prize money they put up for the events they sanction/govern. If the UCI chooses to collect prize money funding from bike brands or Toyota, that is there choice. I wonder if the UCI even needs to find funding for prize money… And I completely agree, I’d love to see more funding behind regional/national events. I’d like to believe downhill racing and the UCI is currently in a position that it doesn’t have to be one or the other, and we could grow regional downhill racing while also supporting World Cup...
