As an event announcer myself I will say it is totally plausible that the announcer forgot in the moment it was top 3 for the overall. The issue with Cannondale is that they are a PON owned brand. While PON has deep pockets, they already have Santa Cruz as their halo racing brand. PON shut down the GT factory team last year, I think it's unlikely they bring a Cannondale factory team back.

There are a few reasons why we haven't done crowns. 1. To be honest unless you go really wild with offset, it's an adjustment you get used to and no longer feel. The bike is not fun to ride in this setting. (setup for countershox but removed). Much more feedback to my hands and less planted bike. It felt like it was deflecting all the way down the trail. I did a test recording axle and bar movements with and without countershox. You're missing out on the fact that the teams are private businesses and they don't have to hire anyone. If they don't want someone with potential baggage, that's their prerogative. Given that racing is essentially done exclusively for marketing, it's no surprise that the big teams are taking a pass on him. There's not some grand conspiracy trying to hold back your boy, just businesses doing cost/benefit analysis to what he'd bring to their brand image.
