5/8/2026 7:22pm With Santa Cruz crew shamelessly parading around Galbraith on the unreleased Tallboy I wonder how soon I am gonna see a spy shot of the carbon version? I know there was one that looked aluminum on here a month or so ago.

5/7/2026 1:28am Why the dissapointment? Without knowing exactly what the bike is, other than hearing info and seeing pics. The ethos/idea of the bike is probably the same? A small travel, super fun and efficient bike - Probably more efficient with this new suspension setup, as well as lighter - But probably also more capable than the previous version. I am stoked to see it, and thinking it could probably be the perfect bike to do it all for me.

5/6/2026 8:54pm my 2 cents after spending some time on the bike is that I really want to spend more time on the bike. A couple anecdotes here: I was surprised at how well it pedalled and the lack of heft that I was expecting after looking at it. After giving it back for a month I had to film on it with no time to get familiar again. First trail was a rapid North Van classic that I have ridden a bunch and I was immediately sending it. It was extremely poppy while still being planted, able to pull for all...

4/30/2026 5:46am Pick a chainring size and be a dick about it? Honestly who cares. Kind of reminds me of skiing, where if you don’t ski on 130 flex boots you’re a lil bish. I have a commute and regular guy job and live kinda far from trails. I don’t have as much free time as others to be an ascent monster. Let me enjoy my 30t ring. Don’t yuck my yum yo!!

4/30/2026 5:37am I've been to Primoz' neck of the woods and would like to add that: You should absolutely go to that neck of the woods to ride if you get a chance. Primoz raced cross country for years before switching to longer travel bikes, and was fitter than me when we rode together. He's a great host and I cannot recommend Bled Cream Cake enough. However, I would not recommend eating it right before a 87 F/31 C mountain bike ride with Primoz. Primoz, I'm still right about heavier tire casings and softer compound. Fight me. Most power-based training plans emphasize...

4/30/2026 5:36am Yeah, as someone who does HR based zone-oriented training a <32t is pretty amazing when i need to haul a heavy bike up something in zone 2. Sure I could ignore what I'm trying to accomplish on that ride and muscle my way up things and blow myself up in the process, but that's not always what you need to be doing. And yes, I do go to a gym. My guess is that people who are saying "real bikers only need 32t" haven't actually ever followed a formal training plan, which tend to involve a lot of time in...

4/30/2026 5:35am If you use a power meter to follow power-based, zone-oriented training and a <32t chainring allows you to do so consistently and repeatably, you actually don't need a power meter, you need to train...in a gym? Flawless logic.

4/30/2026 5:34am Being realistic about your terrain and fitness and biasing your gear usage to the middle of your cassette is going to be better for your drivetrain long term. If you wanna be a hero and only climb in first and second gear you’re gonna roast your cassette real fast.

4/30/2026 5:34am 29er rear wheel and 30t chainring with 10t on cassette with a max comfortable cadence of 95 rpm will give a top speed of 25 mph. When are you ever pedaling when going faster than 25mph on a trail bike, and will require a larger chainring? I appreciate the lower possible gearing of a 30t for slow tech climbs or ridiculously steep fire roads on the edge of traction. There is no reason to go larger except for being a DH racer, XC racer, or having too big of an ego.
