Last rumor I remember hearing is that it'll likely get the six-finity platform similar to what's on their e bikes.

I feel like photos of this caliper have floated around on here before, but it's a nice close-up. It's paired with an XTR lever... I am really hoping that new Saint brakes are released this year.

Re upping the pictures of the reserve hubs since they seemed to have fallen off the last post.

Yep, but I'll wager it's still one of those 'too close' relationships. OneUp started out outside of Pon, Reserve didn't. That little distance may matter to some PMs, but having a uniform cockpit & wheel offering will also bring a bit of pull. Bar tape matching the saddle if you will.

I liken it to Campy:Fulcrum. Campy wants to get more people on their wheels but not many would accept running Shimano/Sram drive with Campy wheels. Enter Fulcrum. The same quality, a diff name, all the freehub options, none of the fashion policing. If Pon wants to get more market share, breaking Reserve wheels out from under the SC banner of products makes a lot of sense. Makes it a lot easier for product mgrs to have a one stop shop when speccing bikes and a cohesive build package.

Sure looks like it. Seems a little weird for PON to be backing this when their existing wheel brand (Reserve) seems to have made huge headway in the in both aftermarket and OE spec in the last few years. Maybe the One Up wheels are supposed to be a more budget oriented product?

This 100%. I have a mate who got into riding 18mths ago. He's the kind of guy that is all about the intricacies of Tomas Haake's polyrythmic drumming and any other complex undertakings, but as soon as I try and explain to him that he needs to spend a couple of hours one day bracketing his setup and his riding will improve immensely his eyes glaze over.

😁 Indeed some proper bump stops would be a very good tuning option! Fox air shocks started coming with "real" bumpers a few years ago but they are very soft and not that effective IMO. Fluid Focus make aftermarket bumper which work very well, and I don't know the real reason air shocks only used an o-ring but I guess it was to make it possible to use every last mm of travel.....a nicely progressive bump stop gives a "bottomless" feel but your o-ring probably won't reach the last 2-3mm which consumers will always complain about sadly. Air springs would...

Well the tech rumors thread keeps getting derailed and I like kinematics as much as anyone else so figured I’d start a thread on it. First off, there is some personal preference here and there certainly isn’t a one size fits all solution to bike suspension. So no one is necessarily wrong, they just might like their bike to behave differently. For example I don’t like bikes with low anti rise because I find the rear extends too much under super heavy braking or creeping into steep chutes for my liking. But I know a lot of people out there...

This a common straw man argument I see on this topic. It’s important to remember that anyone capable of going that fast uphill is only do so with a lifetime of skills as a foundation . Anyone in a pro xco race is likely never putting out 1500w in that race, and if the are it’s for about 5 seconds during a sprint finish. Theres just a lot more nuance man. No human is putting out world tour sprint finish power for the same duration as a 800wh battery Humans are creatures of the path of least resistance. If you...

Mayb the thread should be retitled, something like “tech rumors and innovation… and bitching about it.”

I am not seeing how the last 4 pages of this thread have anything to do with rumors or innovation.

Guys I think you are reaching too far in to this - VPP was never any better or worse than other links out there, but the new layout makes a lot of sense from a packaging perspective so there are many legitimate reasons for the change. Also no disrespect to GT, but they haven't had a massive impact for a while as far as I can tell, but SC has plenty of good resources of their own - there is no reason they would be looking to GT for ideas

Of all the reviews I have seen online, nobody is complaining about the progression or bottoming out all the time. And if JKW didn't immediately fill it with volume spacers, then I think there is some overreaction here.

You have to remember the true target market of this bike....if you really need that much extra resistance then a Tallboy is the wrong bike for you, full stop. The forum guys wanting to run a coil shock are a niche of a niche type of mountain biker so they aren't going to design the bike with that in mind. I also don't think its that far off, and they maybe chose to ship it with that shock spec so people can easily remove the spacers if that need to. And plenty of people have run coil shocks in bikes...
