Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Didn’t kolb use some at the beginning of the season. Burgtec probably just said let’s make you some trick ones and get some good press.
Can’t imagine the market on Mx dropouts for xl v10s large enough to warrant production but I’d love to be wrong.
I wonder if they'll finally ditch the 29er rear wheel for the XL after this.
Since the last enduro release...
maybe... but they already have a T-type (flat top) 13 speed drivetrain based on a 47.5 chainline. If they do come out with a 13 speed drivetrain, I'll be a bit surprised because we're already at a durability tipping point with 12 speed and ebike drivetrains. Still, I could see a cash grab for a high end, pedal bike focused 13 speed drivetrain.
Yet I am over here about to seek out if anyone can make me some extensions for full 29 like Minnaar used to run! so, if anyone sees this and is capable, please actually holler.
Yeti showing bikeshops new sixfinity bikes. 2 models and damn, they look good
Excited for this one. Does the version replacing the Sb160 allow for mullet and full 29? I'd love to be able to swap wheel sizes. Hope the chainstay length is right too...
And the stack height…
Honestly, that looks super easy to make and pretty light on machining. Need to see the other side too
Yeti loves their low stack... almost as much as Pivot loves a short CS.
Could be wrong, but I feel like the market is driven by what faster (or perceived to be faster) and in more and more cases MX is faster even for XL riders though. I remember when Minnaar first went to Norco there was some pushback from him to go MX but after a couple timed laps the choice was pretty obvious. Just one case but I think it was in a Vital Pits a while back.
AI Attempt at a Sxifinity 160...
(pic deleted. keep fake bike pics out of here. too many people will believe it's read -editors)
Luckily it won’t be as bad looking
Didn’t they move to 55mm chainline years ago? Even before transmission?
They did, but much like UDH, it was in service of Transmission.
It was 52mm prior to Transmission.
Pointless? Yeah, probably.
But rich ebike nerds are the exact people that will gobble up 1000+ dollar 13speed drivetrains the day they release lol.
32" Wheels also look shit. Banning skinsuits was done primarily to keep DH racing looking "Cool" (although these new one piece kits take the piss and look garbage if you look me) so I wouldn't be mad if part of their reasoning was to maintain the desired look for the sport. That stuff matters.
While I am shouting at the clouds can we get the UCI to ban under the jersey body armour and long pants. Sam Hill 2005 is the desired aesthetic.
I run that set up on my Bronson last year, and really want it for my ebike….
I wonder what the legal recourse is if any? Quite a few brands have been testing openly and probably pouring oodles of money into it just for the uci to now ban them.
With the sunk development costs, not just frame companies but wheels, tires, and suspension companies as well what's the chance it all still gets released just to possibly less sales since it's banned from high level competition?
Is this supposed ban only for XC and gravel, or DH and enduro as well? DH rules for a long time have basically been that you need two wheels (and maybe brakes?), and that what makes it so cool. Road bike development has been stifled for decades because of the UCI, and I'd hate to see that mentality of prescriptive design come into DH. AON et al are some of the coolest setups, and limiting wheel size would be a step towards travel limits, weight limits, or geometry prescription like road bikes are.
"or geometry prescription like road bikes are."
the UCI has made a number of attempts to regulate road and time trial bikes position and geometry... and usually they base the rules around a medium-large man.
Then comes the amendment or extra clause that people over 180cm (category 2) or over 190cm (category 3) get slightly different rules once they work out that their 'once size fits most' arbitrary measurements dont work fairly for everyone.
So give it a year or two and maybe they will decree that Coulanges gets to ride a mega mullet and Blevins and Aldridge get to ride a full 32.

Highlights
Hey, let's stay on topic here. This is the UCI 32" rule debate thread.
Seriously though, that aluminum hydroforming and construction work looks really clean. It's really hard to tell where the carbon models end and the aluminum ones begin in the website photos.
Love Orbea. Beautiful bikes. Just frickin beautiful. And I hear they ride well too. Bravo.
And the entry level builds aren't insanely priced
They just need to tone down their love of cable tourism on the rest of their offroad lineup now...
That main pivot pinch bolt opening looks primed to let all the mud and water directly on top of the bearing.
As well as the charging port facing wheel spray.
Just a couple of observations from the UK perspective.
