Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Random things seen in parking lots...
Maybe it's cold...
Perhaps, but current gen has some overlap which hides a bit of the length.
In response to that insane faring thing on the AON bike. The mechanic said it was so he could get more feel/grip. WHY WHY WHY does it not have grip tape on it then.
I’ve always felt gripping my seat with my knees was plenty. But with some of the wide option tuck sections of this track if you can be resting a bit while going as fast as everyone else it’s not the worst idea.
Hopefully the get something a bit less likely to kill Reese soon. Even just some plastic on those edges would be a huge improvement.
Grip tape was added today. Coming from riding motocross bikes I totally understand his theory. I grip my seat and link all the time. If it helps him get to the next step, I’m here for it!
I can see it helping a bit.. I'd just find some better hardware.. Also a good spot for some sponsor stickers.. Side plates coming to DH?
Why why why does it not have counter sunk screws from either side?
Showing up to a federal land agency meeting with heat maps printed discussing decommission was an eye opening experience. It’s a great tool for them to identify and remove any trail that was a significant amount of time to build. Your 2 minutes of enjoyment likely was 100 hours of work or more. And it just put a bullseye on the trail when you published your ride.
You can remove sharing heat maps on your settings, not make rides public and hide your maps. Or just not strava those trails.
This would be easy to 3d print im not sure why they went with such a sketchy solution?
I worked on one a while ago..slightly different primary purpose, which was mostly about getting together with your mates and going for a ride, but recording was a natural part of it.
An idea I really wanted to play with was identifying users' riding style (using super secret Duck's autism algorithms, obv) to find new people to ride with too, but then everyone got stoked on it calling it something like a Tinder for mountain bikers.
I don't see a strong reason to try and create own, competing database of "segments" that would be a trail, though I'm aware a segment can be a section of a trail, or a bunch of trails linked or whatevs..
Got it all working and all but then I had to talk to people and ask them to use it(or tell me why they couldn't), which wasn't quite successful as I got feedback from exactly 1 active user. Not very efficient in a social-ish app, and I can't stand social media enough to rile people up.
To be quite honest, I'd like to see Trailforks just getting some better, MTB-specific features implemented that I tried pitching to Strava over a decade ago. While TF has its own issues, it's got a decent user base and I'd rather see them implement things, than working with their API unless it's got sorted out a bit in the recent few years
One issue, Trailforks is owned by Outside and they don't care about you or our sport
So black is the new gold now with RAD?
Because they wanted old school, sketchy ass, downhill vibes..
High, low and now mid speed adjustment 😅
It looks like the castings are significantly longer at the bottom, which would allow for longer stations and thus better bushing overlap. The damper assembly would then also need to be moved down and slightly out of its usual position.
Reece dad has a metal shop. He said this was the easiest way for him to make a quick version to test before flying to US. He said if they don’t break in the bike bag, they will hold up riding.

Yeah brodozer would have the 5.56 sticker 😂
That bike is one that had popped into my head.. Put some modern geometry and parts on that and it's an instant revival for GT..
True brodozer will have either a dirt bike, DH bike, or enduro bike in the back... But, those last 2 are being replaced by ebikes.. In most of SoCal, there will be an Intense sticker, a FMF sticker, and whatever moto they own sticker.. And, keeping with current trends, the driver will be wearing Pit Vipers..
Azonic so ahead of their time 😂
If this shit takes off I may have to quit bikes. ‘Cause I survived the 00s one time already.
Yeah that was my next thought. I guess all ideas start somewhere but I’m my opinion showing that off in public is a bad look. It would not be too difficult to use some pan head screws at the very least. Also, make it one piece and fold it over with a nice radius so it can’t slice your gooch wide open.
Idk I’m just a dumb electrician but I feel like I could make a much nicer one with a beer box template some tin snips and the random hardware in my garage.
What idiot spec trail casing tires on this
I really wanna like this, but when he was on a stock bike, he was doing much better than this crazy contraption with all these extra things just to barely make it through Q2 twice this year
Also from the 90's and the same guy who later founded Zerode bikes! I think a few brands did something similar? Scott and intense come to mind
the top fox enduro rider still skipping the podium… can fox spell FAIL?!
And the first versions of their RAD forks have always been non kashima.
