(Or am I missing what you're gettting at?)
Perhaps they hope the half-link design can improve strength. The last two chains I’ve broken have been on the inner link.
I have a hunch these breaks are because electric derailleurs push harder than thumbs (I never broke a chain in this way with mechanical shifting). I imagine e-bikes are even more abusive than my puny wattage, e-bikes with electronic shifting might be a destructive combo.

Classic chains don't, half link chains however do and they do so at fairly decent rate if you are putting enough wattage through them. And then they snap. Dreamy.

that's been my understanding too, is that its the rollers that wear / deform over time.
Except when you compare a worn chain to a new chain length the worn chain is always longer, so there has to be some stretch occurring (in addition to rollers wearing out.)

Here's how roller wear manifests as elongation. Though it's perhaps inaccurate this elongation is colloquially referred to as 'stretch'.
Shimano XTR M9200 has been leaked on Reddit in all it’s wireless glory. I’m not posting a link as I assume it’s still embargoed but you will want the r/MTB sub.

After a 10 YEAR hiatus, Shimano is back in the electronic drivetrain space, this time without wires (thank god!). I've been riding the drivetrain and brakes since the beginning of December, 2024. Here's what I thought of everything -

Maybe I missed it on here: did anyone catch the spec announcement that MY26 Stumpjumpers will now be sold as stumpjumper evos with a 160 mm fork and piggies back genie shock?
If nothing else it seems like an interesting branding move so close to the release of the 15
Where did you see this at? I’ve got one with standard Genie and considering upgrading.
The extra ground clearance from using the shorter derailleur cage with the 9-45 cassette sounds worthy, especially if you have a 27.5" rear wheel. It's ironic that there's no 27.5" wheel offering🤷♂️.
The 500% range on the 9-45 cassette isn't a great fit for me, but if you're fitter or live somewhere flatter it might not need to be XC specific. The 9-11 tooth jump is a bit bigger than most but I think it's better to have the big jump at the high end than the low like on the non-T-type Sram 10-52.
Not the first comment like yours. Did people expect that top of the line wireless system will be around Sram GX? I don't get it...
Nope, but more reasonable that's for sure, remember the reaction to transmission pricing? I do, and I still think anyone paying MSRP or anything close to it aftermarket has more money then sense. And here we have another one of those products that don't make financial sense whatsoever. Especially in this day and age with bike brands/shops going under at alarming rate. But that's just my opinion, if you have money to burn, it your business and whatever makes you happy.

My favourite anecdote on the pricing that I tell people is that, 25 years ago in Eastern Europe, I paid 1K for a brand new Marzocchi Z1 Bam, which is exactly as much as I would pay for the current top of the line Zeb Ultimate.
And there is more to compare, but the point is, we are quite lucky actually compared to other areas in life where things have gone through the roof (housing,...).
It is not the cheapest sport, but what we can get these days for the money, the abuse it will withstand, and the fun you get back, I think the ratio is pretty awesome.
Did anyone have Bilstein entering mtb suspension on their Bingo card?
To anyone who hasn't read the article on the other site, it's about the mystery suspension run by the YT development team.
I think @sethimus and @iceman2058 were hinting at it on page 900 when we talked about the reel on vital's Instagram. Afaik the company is really based not too far away from Winterberg (130km). And to be fair, under the reel were one or two comments hinting in the same direction.
So maybe we now have the answer to all our guessing back on page 851...

Really good video BTW. A little long for the world we live in, but this gave a lot of really good info. Appreciate the work
Haven't seen any media on this but found it interesting that Shimano also released a battery-less self shifting electronic derailleur for commuting under the cues umbrella.

Anyone want to take a shot at explaining the lack of a clutch on the new shimano stuff?
watch the video. it's literally explained in detail.

I have an ext Storia v4 on my stumpy 15. Never tried the genie but I can’t see it being as good as the ext. would recommend.

whatchuuu talkin about?
that said, I would prefer KING enter the mtb world.
From the other website
So is the shimano low viscosity oil something they produce or is it oem by some other manufacturer?
So, are we possibly getting the goldilocks wireless drivetrain in the 11sp XTR Di2 RD with XX1 toothy linky bits?
