Cold usually causes shrinkage. 😒 which would tension the chain and snap
I don't see any of the Frameworx folks. I viewed the full list of practice times.
Tensioner would accommodate any change in belt length.
How long are these in the cold? Trip up the gondola and some time at the top before drop in. Once they start moving there is some friction that will warm it back up some. Not like these things are sitting in sub zero temps for 10 hours before drop in.
It's super muddy, perhaps that plays a role in the belt breakage?
Bruni has had a couple of different interviews where he comes off as very self centered and he doesn't care about the sport as a whole.
Considering the temperature range their automotive belts have to deal with I would think these belt failures (if they are that) aren’t temperature related. Rock strikes would be my guess.
All racers are self centered… it’s the job.
people use belt-driven bikes for winter commuting in north-eastern north america (i.e. in much colder conditions, with slush and snow and ice and salt). belts seem to work just fine in those conditions. sounds to me like they're just looking for an excuse people will buy.
Riding belt-less with shrinkage does not sound optimal.
Asa has a clip on insta and says he's looking forward to quali's tomorrow but yeah, not much from frameworks is kinda weird, it looks like the only one who did a timed training run was Anna.
Didn't blenki and Taylor Vernon have quite a few problems here last year with their zerodes throwing belts? Maybe was just a mud thing then and it seemed drier today

The Bruni hate is interesting, time and again he elevates and proves the haters wrong, but no doubt mud is still an achilles heel to a point

Exactly. Seems pretty normal to want to race in predictable conditions where you know you are strongest. Ask any racer in the top 30 if they want a mudder at the opening round and you’ll probably get the same answer. Whilst mud races are fun for the spectators and are somewhat of a leveller, this is a fast track and the chances of a season ending injury would be higher.
Bruni hate for not wanting a mudder which introduces a bunch of randomness is unjustified. People are allowed to have their favourite conditions.
I disagree with him on the protected rider status though, I think that change is a vast improvement. They get 2 chances to get to final now, vs having to do well twice in a row to get through like last year.
Not that I would ever presume to know better, but the Raw footage of Jackson looks like his bars are a bit wide for his frame. His arms look almost fully extended in normal riding stance, with no extra slack to adjust body position on the bike. Perhaps as a more compact rider that's just what works for him, and clearly he's not struggling to ride the bike, but compared to everyone else he looks to be 'prone' on the bike with minimal room for body english. Just an observation.
I don't think I have ever seen riders go that fast on day one. I wonder if the new rules are making them push early to be near top speed for qualifying. The track helps too.

Heh well I mean from the riders. I will say last week had a good amount of it for the first Enduro, but either it gets lost in the noise, the resources are used for DH or it got forgotten about AGAIN.
But even just watching riders content, there is just too much and I have to do actual work at some point today. Also it gives each discipline a chance to shine rather then enduro feeling like an afterthought.

...give the whole video a watch because it's funny to hear him deal with talking and riding but around 2:45 he says "locking my suspension" and you see his steerer tube cap light up orange.
Yeah, they put out a 30 min practise video. I got half way through it before I remembered that watching enduro (especially practise) isn't all that exciting.
I meant that as a joke! I've been fortunate enough to meet many racers including some that were my heroes coming up. All overwhelmingly positive.
As for the mudder, I agree with Bruni. I already saw plenty in Supercross this year!
For what it's worth I've snapped a gates belt on a power stroke immediately after a nose pick. It wasn't a fresh belt by any means but my legs are lacking watts, probably a combination of the compression and crank input stressing it.
I know a gent with thighs the size of my torso on a Zerode, he couldn't stop destroying belts and 12 speed pinions under warranty so ended up getting rid of his bike.
"suspension locking mechanism" haha it's the same Flight Attendant that's been raced on the world cup since the start of last season and available to the public for a couple years. Did however give him a LED disk on top of his steerer to remind him if he's locked or unlocked since the lights on top of the Flight Attendent fork lockout are too hard to see when fighting for .01's of a second.
