Yeah mine broke at the hole for the bleeder screw on one side after a couple weeks. Never hit it on anything that I was aware of. Not a fan.
I've broken so many mudguards with them attached there!
Wonder if they’ll release the new Float X2 at the same time as the 36?
Pretty finished article on Matt Walker’s pivot - he’d covered this shock up with a pivot cycles tag in an insta story earlier this week
The holes increase airflow around the stanchion, aiding cooling and improving damping consistency by 11%.
As a side note, 80% of statistics are made up on the spot.
New Frameworks DH batch shipping with custom tuned 2026 X2. Gotta be released soon

All they needed to do was make the orange metallic
I like how they used that clevis to hide the new damper lol
This new 36 SL is interesting. It has a rumored weight of 1795g (29″ 140 Grip X) which is similar to the previous gen Fox 34. Apparently it is optimized for 120 to 140 mm of travel which could land it on beefed up downcountry rigs and short travel trail bikes. If the weight is similar then what would happen to the non-SL 34?
I've been using a 34 GRIP2 on a previous downcountry rig which now it lives on a 140mm trail bike. This 36 SL would be a pretty sweet upgrade.
Personally I like this idea. As a larger rider (220lbs not including gear), I'm already running a 36 set to 140mm on my trail bike. Wouldn't mind the option to keep the stiffness and drop some weight. Like the 34 SL, I presume the 36SL will exist alongside non-SL versions of the 36 which would be available in travel configs longer than 140
They do note it’s the new one down in the spec sheet.
This is not the SL version, but the regular one, wich is also being renewed aparently
The shock pictured is not a 2026.
There is an interesting statement on their page though: “leverage ratios optimized for 2026 shocks”
Sure, just saying the picture is the current generation X2.
I wasn’t disagreeing, I just found that statement when I went to take a look.
My guess is that all will be revealed by the Sea Otter. IIRC they launched the new fork dampers just before Sea Otter last year.
What's the latest on the new wireless Shimano XTR and XT group sets? Estimated release dates?
9am PST today the new 36 goes live.
Sea otter. All totally ready and in the hands of bike manufacturers.

Revel looks to have a new bike dropping tomorrow, as well as updated colorways for the Rascal. The 27.5 Rail is no longer on their site so maybe this is a new mullet 165mm travel enduro bike. Blurry image looks mullet and rear shock has a piggyback.
Say goodbye to the Fox 34, and hello to the all-new 36 SL: https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/new-lightweight-trail-fork-fox-36-sl-first-ride-impressions.
Aaaand...there's the new 36 as well: https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/first-ride-all-new-2026-fox-36. Dig in!
interesting that the 36 and 36SL are effectively different forks.
Confirmed.
Leverage was much smaller (smaller wheel and shorter fork)... But yeah.
Neu 36 air spring set up is a helluva smart way to work around DT's patent/Buttercups. Do wonder what will happen as those elastomers degrade, though that may be me overthinking things again.
I'm just looking forward to getting an "old, completely unusable" 2024 Fox 34 for cheap when everyone upgrades to one of the new 36s.
I have a Pike Ultimate and Super Deluxe Ultimate on my short travel trail bike and I'd love to try the Fox "equivalents" out of curiosity. I'd also love to try some Ohlins versions, too, but my bike is never specced with Ohlins and seems to require an outside-of-standard tune to make the shock and frame agree.
