Then run the program in the race, you wouldn’t even need to be distracted by pressing buttons.

I don’t know if this is what’s happening here, or if there are rules about it. Just brainstorming a possibility.

I like where the tech is going, but this idea seems frought with issues.

What if you get caught offline, what if the course changes slightly, what if you find a faster line as the course develops between track walk, and practice, and qually?

Im thinking the Fox stuff is simply an on/off, and they are working to make that more of an automated system.

the RS stuff, likely a slightly different version of what FA already is, with loads of data to draw from as the system has been in the wild for a bit now.

The 3 button Ohlins, seems like it could be a toggle between two compression circuits (automated version of a Push shock)

Would y'all want to see a 15-minute VitalMTB video with back-to-back testing on a section of brutal rocky chunder with different pedal kickback theories to see if the Ochain really works as advertised?

Would be cool to include an older/less modern bike (compatibility considered) that has a ridiculous amount of pedal kickback.

Or a budget bike.

Another thought on Flight Attendant: by putting FA on World Cup DH bikes, they're facing the ultimate programming and hardware challenge. I think there's actually a lot of trickle down benefit from putting FA on Luca Shaw's bike, Troys, Vali's, etc. Because of the speeds and forces at play, they're getting real world race data that's much more violent then XC or even Enduro, and being forced to refine their programming and sensors to determine what's essential, what's unhelpful, and what's possible. If SRAM can make it work there, it can kinda work anywhere. This is of course assuming they're using it as anything other than an expensive wireless lockout switch.

I'm sure there must either be a rule against my idea or it just doesn't deliver wins, it's so simple that if it worked everyone would have done it - and then the rules would have been changed to prohibit it.

I haven't reviewed the rules, was merely noting that you could work around rules against transmitting data (that's the definition of telemetry, right?).

teamrobot set a record for forum thumbs up, so here's a preview of what's to come (unlisted, only for the special people in this forum topic) regarding taking out pawls and testing ochain.

In the interview with Olivier mentioned that that during those days they would always develop Nico's frame/bike based on the world champ track that year - that was always the focus.

I'm friends with an Ex- WC racer who raced the same years as Nico, she told me a few years ago that he did this even with his tires.  He would figure out which tires were best for the World Champs course and would race them for every race leading up to Worlds, regardless of conditions. Wet race...same tires, dry race...same tires, crazy rock gardens...same tires.

First my mom, then my teachers, now Spomer. It is always nice to hear that I am special Wink

This is giving the people what they want! Excited to see the results. Should I tell Switzerland to start making a bunch of 18T ratchets?

I think you're referring to a difference between "telemetery" and "another word that sounds kinda like telemetry". Unfortunately I don't even know what the other word is, let alone the difference. Could you explain please?

(Remember when Willy Wonka sent candy over radio? I'm kinda hoping to learn that telemeatery is sending meat.)

Well technically cell phones and WiFi both are radio waves. So wouldn't "sending meat over radio just be a dick pic?

It's only telemetry if it comes from the telemetry region of France; otherwise it's just sparkling data acquisition.

But actually:

If the data being collected aren't also being transmitted, it isn't telemetry.

You sneaky buggers, you planned this from the beginning!

Edit: I'm not going to add another post just for my thoughts on telemetry so I'll add it here.  The tele- in telemetry literally implies the use of a remote communications system of some sort (but obviously, for a bicycle the system must be wireless), as pointed out above by anotherbikeguy.  It's an ancient Greek root meaning "at a distance".  I think it's unambiguous.

Some bikeshop listed lyrik ultimate with new rockshox charger 3.1

https://www.fanatikbike.com/products/rockshox-lyrik-ultimate-29-charger…

CHARGER 3.1

We updated the plumbing through the Low Speed Compression circuit to make the oil’s easy-flow path even easier, allowing more oil to flow through the LSC when the adjuster is set to Open. 68% more oil flow, to be exact. This means less compression damping, so you can hold onto traction and control to mute low-speed trail noise.

During testing, our World Cup racers requested more high-speed damping for an even more supportive ride on the fastest tracks. We increased the size of the High Speed Compression pyramid (peep that cutaway for a visual), to create more damping when the HSC adjuster is closed, so you can add the exact amount of support you need.

How are brands so far off on what is needed for compression and rebound damping with all the development time and money behind these products?

Often because High end parts are not designed for 'bumblers'
When I wasnt riding at the level I am now, My compression, especially Low speed was All the way open, Now on certain forks Im getting close near full closed.

For reference I have about 3 clicks from open on my 3.1 damper. so i can see how the slower guys may ask for less compression.

That was an e-spartan with Knolly stickers... I think the new bike they are shooting is the updated Warden. Makes more sense to bring all their existing models up to straight-top-tube-spec rather than introduce new models.

Some actual tech rumors, proto high pivot Devinci Wilson out now. Saw him riding this in Whistler today and it looks sick

I remember watching a moi moi video where they did testing and dropped a lighter compression tune into his Zeb. Seems like the pros can prefer lighter compression as well.

Question still stands - how is it that every two years there are updated compression tunes. This applies to RS and the latest Fox Grip X2. Why can't they get it right the first time.

Isn't the Devinci DH proto just the bike Dak rode a few years ago?

Anywho, the Charger 3.1 update, I kinda hope it will be possible to upgrade the 3 to it with just a few parts (like the spring update a few years ago) instead of buying a whole new damper. That would be ideal.

black calipers as well. Only difference is titanium hardware on the ultimate I think so maybe they just switched that out because the black goes better with the frame

It's RockShox so you will 100% be buying a whole new damper that's only slightly less hot garbage than the current POS.
