KHS has always been, and will always be, a catalog bike brand and it is a US/Korean company.  The racing part is a passion play by the US GM of KHS, I worked for him when he was the GM of Diamondback bicycles (remember DBR Racing in the late 90's-early 2000's). I remember the day we all got fired by Derby Cycles when they purchased Diamondback and moved the brand from Camarillo, CA to Kent, WA.  I assume the riders get whatever kind of personal bike they want and put KHS stickers on it, no way KHS would ever spend money on developing race bikes in any kind of cycling format.

I'm sure the team could race KHS bikes but have you seen what they offer.

I was in the warranty department when Derby bought DB... Was lucky enough to get sent back to my old warehouse gig long enough to find my next gig...  I assume you are talking about Wayne D...

First shop i worked for, one owner (who was sponsored by KHS) said it meant Killer High Speed. The other owner would bust his balls by calling it a Korean Hunk of Shit.. A crash several years later when I had a Dominatrix left me with a Kidney Hurt Seriously.. That was my first and last ride on that bike...

But KHS has been running Astro catalogue frames for... over 10 years now? I remember news items saying 'we're developing a new DH bike' and it was the exact same Astro frame brands like Mondraker (they ran Astro frames in the first year(s) of Barel era before the stealth design and zero suspension was developed), Cult (Slovenian), Kraftstoff, Solid bikes and the like would also run. Maybe some changes to the angles at most, but all the major parts of the frame were obviously the same.

If you're aiming at the Mondraker, the tubing (industrial design) and suspension layout were done by Cero design. The frames might have been manufactured by Astro, but that's a manufacturing gig. In the beginning Mondraker ran Astro catalogue frames.

Angel to UNNO sounds solid. Doesn't that mean there is a spot there for another rider as well?

“It was a no Brainer” - Andreas Kolb and Charlie Hatton both sign up for another three years with Continental Atherton.

After breakthrough World Cup seasons Andi and Charlie have confirmed that they will remain with Continental Atherton until at least January 2026. Along with the Atherton siblings the riders have been instrumental in the development of both Atherton Downhill Bikes (in particular AM.200.M) and the new range of Continental tires launched in April this year.

Oliver Anhuth, Global Head of Marketing, Specialty Tires Two Wheel Continental Tires said
"We're delighted that Andi and Charlie have renewed their contract with Continental Atherton for the next three years. They've achieved truly outstanding results over the last two years and are both growing as top tier athletes every time they hit the track. Andi and Charlie are also integral to our tire development and testing programmes, with each minute of their training and World Cup expertise informing every MTB tire we create."

Andi and Charlie have both praised the close working relationship with the team’s headline partners and acknowledge that the speedy reactions to their racetrack feedback has played a major part in their success.

The boys’ run of form began at Fort William with Charlie on full gas, qualifying second and finishing 15th in finals despite a crash. Andi was forced to sit that one with a broken elbow but from Round 3 in Leogang both riders consistently delivered personal bests; Andi took his first ever World Cup podium in his first race back from injury and Charlie finished 7th, fainting as he crossed the line after three days of illness…

The career bests didn’t stop there! As the season progressed we saw four more World Cup podiums and the European Championship for Andi and a Crankworx win plus two more top tens for Charlie  – including 7th at Val di Sole, the acknowledged hardest track of the year.

Andreas said “I’m more than stoked to re-sign with the team. In the last two years everyone in the team became like a family member for me. And of course the bike is a big factor too.  It gives me confidence in rough sections and opens up opportunities for more line choices. We definitely have one of the best setups in the circuit. Looking forward to getting together with the team again and see what’s in store for 2023 season!”

Charlie also referenced the winning formula of the Atherton Bike, Continental tires and the amazing vibes and co-operation in the pits…

“It was a no-brainer. After my best season to date, the team atmosphere, the whole bike set-up, it was an obvious choice for me to re-sign! I’m really stoked about the up and coming years and I’m already excited to get stuck in. I’m super comfortable on this setup after years of fine tuning and testing different variations. From frame flex to tire construction a lot has gone into building the bike to where it is today. It’s a big confidence boost as I know there’s been no stone left unturned. That was a big reason why I signed up for three more years!

Andi and Charlie will be joined on the World Cup circuit by Dyfi Bike Park’s Jim Monro who will be looking to expand his World Cup experience and to build upon 2021’s 50th place at Snowshoe.  Jim brings a different set of riding attributes to the team as evidenced by his 7th place at Red Bull Hardline and a Whip-off victory at Lenzerheide.

Dominic Platt also remains with the team for his 2nd year as a junior after a difficult first season saw him mainly side-lined by two fractured wrists sustained at Fort William’s Nationals.

Gee is still rehabbing his femur (despite that Red Bull Hardline ride!) But he fully intends to return to World Cup racing for selected events this year. Dan and Rachel remain an integral part of the team with their 2023 events still under discussion.

Team Director Dan Brown said “Last season’s results came off the back of a lot of hard work by a lot of different people, the list is long and varied ranging from family members through a tight-knit and professional support team to material scientists! To see the rise of Andi and Charlie’s riding over the past few years makes me immensely proud, the journey we’ve taken together, supported by Continental throughout, has been a genuine and perfect partnership; securing them for the next three years gives Atherton Bikes the perfect platform to showcase our start-up company’s cutting- edge ambitions.”

Despite having huge respect for Gee and Rach (how could you not?!?!), I was never a huge fanboy. But something about those bikes and that team just has me really cheering for em and hoping they continue to crush!! Stoked to see they are keeping the band together.

Mikayla Parton not mentioned in the Atherton news? Thought with her being down in wales she would have certainly been on that team. Anyone based down there that would pick her up?

Greg Williamson was riding a pivot bike in one of his Insta stories but is now in cape town with the Cannondale crew?

He rode one of Nekos bike at the Rock Creek DHSE. It would be cool to see him join that team or by the time he is ready for the WC Neko is also ready to bring in riders.

Nice, that would be awesome for US DH.

If he stays on track there could be some 2011-2012 Gwin level WC dominance, the kid is faaaaast! If the WC is still around in a few years that is....Tongue

PB relaying a press release from Pivot that Jakob Jewett has joined Pivot. It also puts to bed any rumours on the rest of the team i.e. Kerr:

"Jake has signed to the Pivot Factory Racing team for 2023 and will join Bernard Kerr and Jenna Hastings for a full downhill World Cup and Crankworx season. The likes of Ed Masters, Matt Walker and Morgane Charre will continue to mix their way into World Cup DH and Crankworx racing when they aren’t stepping onto Enduro World Series podiums."

Odd they're just now putting out a press release since they announced it over a week ago:

Having more fun with the Jesse rumors, especially since he reads these Smile . He’s posting that he’s on a flight, normally he is home skiing all winter, where could he be going? Joining all the other Canyon athletes at their big gathering in Kempten or Troy and Luca at Fabian’s place in Italy? Jack is noticeably absent from this gathering.

Have not seen Mark Wallace in the videos, or posting much recently.  Wonder if he is the WC veteran going to Norco?

Bernard Kerr's latest vlog seems to introduce three new members on the team. A pair of brothers and a new junior woman. Oh and Morgane Char? Chare?

While i'd be stoked to see him stay with Canyon to keep pushing with that program, it would be rad for him to be charging on a Canadian brand's bike again.
