NOOOOOO. I was so hoping for a EXT DH fork but not an usd fork. I'm sad. Hopefully its not mega flexy and it doesn't cost like 5000 euros

THe frame is in the way to be able to look through the caliper. You can do it from behind maybe, but then it's a pain to tighten the caliper back up. And dealing with the screws, the way they are positioned now, is going to be a pain anyway. Even the horst-link/linkage driven single pivot bikes with the calipers 'inside' the triangle (older Commencal Metas, Kavenz VHP, etc.) are a pain to deal with in that regard.

RE Fox stuff, I tried to see if anything was shown in the videos, no wires, no actuator and no sensors visible on Eddie's bike. Same goes for the 'final' shot with Jordi and Evan, so looks like only Eddie is running the new stuff (and Jesse obvs).

Maybe Jesse can chime in? :D
Who? Me?

I don't know what you're talking about...I've been having a lot of fun dialling in my suspension recently though!

Wasn't he Megatrons nephew?
Legend says if you say 'Jesse' 3 times in a row he will appear.

Someone’s been learning a lot from Commencal Supreme’s close pics, it seems… :D

some "borrowed" photos. Is the random wire that I'd assume is going to the X2 not a big deal or has it been discussed already?

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that's just telemetry wires in those photos.

Rumour is Mondraker is releasing an enduro bike with 31" front wheel, and fox is currently sorting a fork for them. Mullet with 29 in the back and will run 0mm stem.

Fork lowers would need a new casting, kinda pricey. Good tires would require very expensive molds, that's the main difficulty. Also why 31"? 32" unicycles exist, a quick google didn't show any 32" tires that'd be any good for mtb tho.

IIRC the earliest 29" dh bike experiment (lenz pbj i think?) used a travel limited inverted fork (dorabo) to clear a 29" tire. would be one possible solution to pursue for a fork, but wouldn't address the tires themselves.

A production usd with shortened travel (or custom longer stanchions and some spacers) would be the way to do it for experimenting/prototyping. But he says "releasing" which makes it sound like a production bike, and fox hasn't ever sold an usd fork (right?). Wouldn't be on brand for fox. As interesting as it'd be, I'm highly skeptical about this mondraker 31" rumor.

Super cool,
If only to get people more riled up like it has any sort of bearing or impact on their lives.

Cant wait for the immediate hate and skepticism of something they’ve never tried….

Mondraker & FOX will release a mountainbike with a 31" front wheel in 2024

As the title says, Mondraker is developing an enduro mtb with a 31" front wheel and a 29er in the back. For this they teamed up with FOX to manufacture the forks. They are using in-house prototype wheels and prototype tires made by Hutchinson. For the new 31" forks FOX had to make the lowers 1 inch longer to fit the bigger wheel and also make the whole fork thicker to increase stiffness. Mondraker told us, that they will equip the new bikes with a stem, that is effectively 0 mm long and sits directly above the forks shaft to make the handling more agile. No word on naming yet.

Hook, line and sinker. Its a throwaway account and hes stirring it up based on a recent video of mondraker being the kings of making history from when they went super long first.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Considering the amount of DH WC and EWS racers running mullets, I think it's obvious 29 is too big in the rear for a lot of riders

Finns bike the chain stays are super laterally flexy but still tracks a ton. His bike is visually doing something pretty different out there.

From slow mo vids we can also see that it's going backward when compressed, indicating that it's connected to links ?
