BlazersDad89 Added a reply to The Bikeconomics (Mega)Thread
8/5/2025 11:36am Most brands are still burning off a lot of fat. Mainly in the MTB/E-MTB and city/urban categories. Road and Gravel are pretty healthy. It's not the "Hot" bikes that are the problem. It's all the other bikes(goofy component specs, old models etc) and I don't think that will change in the next year or so. The popular models are going...

BlazersDad89 Added a comment about feature What's In / What's Out - Mountain Biking in 2025
1/2/2025 7:55am Jason going for the jugular here. Sorry but I'm gonna keep rocking the sunglasses with the FF so I can climb conveniently and than, when I reach the top I'll take a sip from my second bottle that's on my hip pack. Don't worry though Jason, if you have a flat, you can use my proper sized hand pump that's in the pack too.

1/2/2025 7:52am Schroeder will eventually develop enough self-confidence to wear his waist purse with pride. Thankfully, I'm now old enough to not care what anybody thinks about it (or anything else). 🤣 - Johan

1/2/2025 7:50am Sunglasses with a full face are going to continue to be the way. Goggles require more management, and I don't need that hassle. We're riding up the hill in our fill faces, and goggles don't like that. Doesn't really matter what people think is cool or not, I'm going to do it my way regardless.

BlazersDad89 Added a reply to 2.3mm rotors on Shimano brakes?
10/18/2024 10:37am I run 2.0mm SRAM rotors on my Shimano XT 8020s and like them. Definitely faster engaging and more powerful bite. With fresh pads, clearance is a bit tight. I have had to bleed and reset calipers to ensure a good fit though.

10/7/2024 8:17am Rumour of my demise have been exaggerated. We are safe. But we are forever changed. A water & wind event of near biblical proportions hit us & has taken far more lives than can be counted. Didn't know where to make my one post, but this will be it for a long time. No politician, no plan, no design could have stopped anything that happened here. A stream I could step across took the first home at the top of it. A friend lost 10 members of his family saving his wife and kids watching his parents & relatives swept...

4/30/2024 8:54am When I was at Sea Otter last week, I asked a few brands, "What's the state of the bike industry post-COVID?" Most people's responses were broad and not super in-depth, but overall, most people are optimistic looking forward. And the brands that are feeling it the most didn't plan appropriately for the inevitable decline in demand after the COVID boom. Here is the audio from the conversations: https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/state-mtb-industry-post-covid

BlazersDad89 Added a reply to If You Could Change One Current MTB Standard...
1/30/2024 11:18am Potentially unpopular opinion. Some of the newer cable routing systems where you just slide the housing into the chainstay and have it come out at the headtube is the best to me. Yes you have to cut your brake lines to install but that has to happen most of the time anyways. External routing isn't bad but fussing with zip...

12/21/2023 1:31pm Eagle derailleur was feeling left out - so I made a thing - replaces the washer on a standard UDH dropout with a "Brace" that links the rear derailleur for strength and stiffness.

10/31/2023 7:46am I'm gonna continue to pile on the love. This is the best content in the industry. You somehow captured the old bike mag vibe of chill playfulness but then back that with the fact that all 3 of you are stone cold shredders. This is what want out of review session.
