Sunglasses with a full face are going to continue to be the way. Goggles require more management, and I don't need that hassle. We're riding up the hill in our fill faces, and goggles don't like that. Doesn't really matter what people think is cool or not, I'm going to do it my way regardless.

This is exactly it. Front flips are harder than backflips, but they aren't as cool to watch or fun to do. So some people will rank them higher and some people will rank them lower. We don't want to go down the road of this trick has a degree of difficultly of 3.2 and the execution of that was a...

For me to enjoy Rampage you have to park the scoring and just appreciate what all the riders are doing - its almost got to a stage where the approach's being taken are so different its hard to judge and compare. You have Semenuk doing super tech on smaller features, but the tricks he is doing are still likely the biggest of their kind ever thrown, then you have at the opposite end of the spectrum Bren carving out the gnarliest most exposed route down the mountain, that most pros wouldn't even consider attempting, and then you have the likes...

I realise this is flogging a several year-long dead horse now but here goes. Scoring the riders with numbers doesn't make sense to me for this event. Rampage feels more like a showcase of things that are simply insane to do on a mountain bike. As soon as you try and assign arbitrary numbers to that it takes away from whoever scores low down the leaderboard. The reason folk are so angry about Brendan's score is the complete lack of recognition for the standout qualities of his run - exposure and technicality (terrain rather than tricks obviously). So how about...

So with all the talk about scoring, let me ask a legitimate question. You're RedBull or the organizer. What do you do differently. We've got a judges list of MTB royalty. Their opinions should count. The criteria is defined, and then its left up to judges. I don't think its the organizers place to tell the judges hey this is...

Scoring aside, there was a lot of really wild riding that went down this year. The level everyone is operating at in 2024 simply boggles my mind.

Ended up getting another flat and that was enough. Went to buy from a local shop. First two shops didn't have anything in a downhill casing. Third one had a couple of good options. Ended up going with a Maxxis High Roller 2 27.5 2.4 Maxx grip 3c TR Downhill casing. Casing is WAY stiffer than my old exo+. I...
Schwalbe Marathon Plus.....if you know, you know.

This actually is the stiffest casing known to man. RIP thumbs

With the caveat that I don't know how they will work in BC (which is your stated location), I was quite impressed with the Goodyear MTF/MTR combo when I tested them. Definitely a big step up in stiffness/pinch resistance from a Maxxis EXO+ (which isn't saying that much, as others have already pointed out), without too much of a rolling speed penalty (I tested the "Enduro" version which weighs almost as much as the DH version). I really liked them in fast, rocky terrain. https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/First-Ride-All-New-Goodyear-Newton-MT…. Michelin has also been mentioned several times here already, the "Wild Enduro" might be a...

Look into the Specialized Cannibals. They're slightly cheaper than other brands and they're the most supportive feeling tire I have ever ridden. Also only made in a 2.4 width and DH casing. Seem to be a good do it all tire with the exception of really deep dirt/mud. I've never ridden the Michelin DH tires but have heard those are equally as heavy and supportive.

I'm only 190 pounds but like the OP I've always been hard on rear tires and wheels, and the only setup that's worked for me is Maxxis DH casings with Cushcore Pro in the rear. The new Schwalbe or Michelin DH casings are the stiffest casings money can buy, even heavier and tougher than a Maxxis DH casing, but as others have said those tires only come in the softest slowest rolling rubber compound. Michelin does have the "bike park" DH tires which have a faster rolling rubber, but as someone else said they don't have the same robust DH...

What is a really pinch resistant tire good for hard terrain with a high rolling speed. What is the stiffest casing between brands? Unfortunately stiff casings are slower rolling, so there is a trade-off here you can't avoid (the tyre consumes more energy deforming to trail as it's stiffer and therefore rolls slower). However running them at such high PSI as you do, a lot of it will be mitigated. I would say the Schwalbe DH casing or Michelin DH is the stiffest I've personally dealt with, but it is only marginal back to Maxxis. If you want to maximise...

Schwalbe DH or Michelin DH both seem to be a level stiffer than maxxis DH casings.

So I hate flat tires, but I get them all the time because I weigh 240lbs, always rear. I'm just running tubes in my rear these days because I fix it on the trail....and once the tubes in I just leave it.....until I pop it again. I run 32psi front and back, so I don't wan to run MORE pressure...

TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic 2.4 tires for enduro

Just a heads up about tire sizing, because you seem to be dead set on getting a 2.4" tire. Not all 2.4" tires are the same size, and the best way to get a sense of the actual size of a tire is the ETRTO listing on the sidewall of the tire. For instance, the old 26" Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5" had an ETRTO listing of 58mm, but the new 29" Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5" has a ETRTO listing of 63mm. They're both ostensibly a 2.5" tire, but in reality one is 10% wider. Why? The 2.5" moniker is there...

The link did exactly was I exactly what I was hoping it would (and what the graphs said it would). I had to run too stiff previously to prevent bottom outs. Now I have only 1 volume reducer instead of 3, and am not bottoming. I'm using about 90-95% of my travel but the small bump stuff is so much...

It’s well known that the Druid and dreadnought share the same link. A good number of people actually installed it on the dreadnought before we ever listed it as compatible with the dreadnought. They were happy with it and we continued to get questions about it so when we got the shock compatibility to a place we thought was reasonable for the dreadnought we listed its specs too. It’s a Druid link a the end of the day though. There are some people that can get along with 40%. It’s not as unreasonable as it sounds especially on this bike...

This was thoroughly hashed out in the tech rumors. We blocked one person. The person that started this thread. Calling it a review would be a stretch. Calling it defamatory, not so much. Edit, seeing as you made an account today just to post one thing I’m going to assume you are that exact same person.

I got one for my transition scout. I'm 6'2 and 240lbs. I've have a rock shock super deluxe that I'd filled up volume reducers, and I had to run about 280PSI to not bottom out on my normal rides. When I ride it that stiff, It tends to be stiffer then I want over the small stuff. So I grabbed...
