I can’t be the only one to hope the belted purse goes on at least into the 2026 season. All these gearbox teams pooping up have made the anticipation for this season so much stronger!

UCI isn't paying squat for the purse. Gates is the MVP here. good marketing for them I guess. It's been awesome to see teams gearing up to go after it. But it's sad that they can't win prize money like that just for... winning a race.

It will be interesting to see if teams stick to the belt when somebody wins the prize purse or they switch back to conventional drive trains - that would be the ultimate test of the technology.

Listened when it came out, listened to it again just now. Dustin is very open on the podcast on how some of the stuff worked (and didn't work). I really hope WAO stays in business, there's only 3 carbon wheel manufacturers that actually mold their carbon fiber in NA that I know of - Enve/F&B/WAO, and WAO is by far the most affordable.

That Trek team is stacked with future winners IMO. Sick to see the Union system working, sad to see it disbanded.

Reece is going to pull double duty (and double salary!) riding WC and doing Freeride stuff. So sick.

They have the opportunity to do something very funny by poaching Wallace from Giant.

Kinda disheartening to see all kinds of crappy team politics creeping in MTB. It is not a team sport and access to World Cup should be based on individual performance. A simpler system would make more sense and be more fair. Let's have a couple of continent qualifiers open to everybody (and broadcasted as a wc by W anybody in the top 20 got a ticket to race wc. Teams then organize themselves around whoever can race.. We are going to see the value of WC racing dilute itself through the years..

I think this kinda sums it up - 1. If you're in a top 15 team, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 2. If you're top 50 for elites or top 100 for juniors, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 3. If you are the current World/Conti/National Champ, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 4. If you didn't make any of those, then you either hope to be on a). One of the 5 season wildcard teams b). One of the 8 chosen wildcard teams for that round or c). Your...
