The previous sensor was a great “do it all” bike. It was a touch overbuilt for the travel bracket it was in but didn’t falter when pushed harder than it was intended to be ridden since it shared the same front triangle as the same generation force. If the new one is even just a marginal improvement on the old it’ll be a great bike for anyone looking for a predictable & relatively low maintenance bike.

“Oh by the way, top 5 from last year are guaranteed to be in every race with points on offer, of which there are 50% more now.” Thats the craziest change to me (and yeah, unannounced). Seems a monstrous advantage. Kerr’s gonna take over the world. Norton is right about what makes DH so great—one shot! And that stat about most injuries come in practice—that seems unremarkable, as there’s way more time on track, gnarly dangerous track, during practice(s). Great podcast love it love DH racing

I saw this too and almost posted it. Thanks Spomer! I had read an article explaining how the first two worked around the time that the third one came out. And I could never understand why people were pushing the derailleur in a box thing. It seems they were both true.

The explanation of the gen 1 and gen 2 gearboxes was pretty fascinating. I've heard lots about the 'derailleur in a box' but never anything about those earlier prototypes. Pretty cool.

I actually sat on that bike and have been told it's the Sensor. Was set up with a 34 and have seen another one with a 36. So 130-160mm(?) front and i think 135/155 at the back. Don't know geonumbers though.

one of my favorite things to watch every year. trey jones' swampfest. it's on for 2023. there's just something about true NFG, dirty, death-defying, chaotic events like this. i'm pretty sure i'd be way too scared to even go spectate, but from the safety of a computer, i can't get enough. post up stufff here if you find it.

Another rumor is that Trek has a new Supercaliber coming as well. It would be hilarious if they ditched the current layout (which is a complete nightmare for suspension service), and left it for Speshy.

Funniest part is the new Epic-Caliber was supposed to be released last summer, but Specialized was sitting on so many current Epics they couldn't. The bike has been done for a long time, just sitting in the warehouse.
