In December last year, Warner Bros. Discovery announced fairly monumental changes to the format of UCI World Cup downhill racing. The introduction of a third points-paying race per round that will result in less elite riders in finals quickly stirred up a commotion. On today's episode, the crew sits down to discuss the details of these changes and the possible implications they will have when the season kicks off in June. Enjoy!

I think the idea of an LCQ instead of semi-finals would be so much cooler. Let those who did what they needed to chill and give those who couldn't get it done in qualis an extra shot.

Listening to the recent Downtime Podcast episode with Chris Ball should have been required before having this roundtable. Unfortunately, I think only of the guys actually listened to Ball's hour long run down of the situation.

My memory of last year, is that the only information UCI/Discovery was giving was a reassurance that 2023 wasn't going to have any changes except that Discovery would do the broadcast. But now they are throwing in changes for 2023, which feels dishonest and increases my dread for the future of DH racing.

“Oh by the way, top 5 from last year are guaranteed to be in every race with points on offer, of which there are 50% more now.” 
Thats the craziest change to me (and yeah, unannounced). Seems a  monstrous advantage.  
Kerr’s gonna take over the world.

Norton is right about what makes DH so great—one shot!

And that stat about most injuries come in practice—that seems unremarkable, as there’s way more time on track, gnarly dangerous track, during practice(s).
