one of my favorite things to watch every year. trey jones' swampfest. it's on for 2023. there's just something about true NFG, dirty, death-defying, chaotic events like this. i'm pretty sure i'd be way too scared to even go spectate, but from the safety of a computer, i can't get enough.
post up stufff here if you find it.
Rail Jam is up now!
nervously hitting play now.
vert wall jam video
Castle build is sick.
Event looks amazing. My son always wants to go... but I think we'll hold off until he's a little older, hah.
Hahaaaaa that slowmo at the very beginning of the rail jam video is great. Swampfest is the best.
Pit Viper Rail Jam, and bonus castle jump belly flops
thanks for keeping up on these @CapnBlueberry !
If you ain’t spamming refresh on OurBMX’s YouTube page you’re doing it wrong lol
hahaha, you just keep beating me to it
They just keep comin
Swampfest is everything I want to see in MTB but know that as a group we are no where cool enough to pull off.
Hope they have a vid from the pool thing with the loop at one end. The shit they build is so rad.
Even some of the BMX scene gets a little put off by Swampfest. Can you imagine the pearl clutching that would take place if there was something like this in MTB.
That being said: the younger generation who have grown up on 50:01 (and got into BMX culture as a result) are starting to pivot to more of this style of event/riding/vibe. My son and his friends all love this kind of stuff and their group is very inspired by it. In the Hills Gang is as well.
Also: good on GT for throwing in to sponsor actual EVENTS like Swampfest and Malverns Classic. Listening to Sy on Downtime Podcast, and he was talking about how fewer and fewer brands are interested in sponsoring events. They'll all sponsor riders to send to events... but without having someone sponsor the actual events, there is no event.
I just love the kids running around there, like what parent is like "ya lets bring Timmy to SwampFest for the day".
We're usually there, but I just had to take a break, ha, as a now sober dude in his 40's, and having our BMX riders camping in our backyards and riding the backyard ramp is all the swampfest I can handle this year.
Ain't gonna lie though, we have another spot nearby in Tampa we've talked about hosting a similar MTB/DJ style event, but thats not happening any time soon.
