It's a joke. I'll explain: In America, we have disliked the French so much at times that we even renamed French fries "Freedom" fries. Animosity towards the French has been an ongoing theme in American pop culture for much of the 20th century, and especially in this last decade. While French-Canadians are not actually French, they share a common language and identity. By commenting on his language in such an extreme manner, I was using sarcasm to fulfill a dual purpose. If you think professional downhill racing isn't about: "training, calories, heart-rate, vo2, rest, taper, train, train, train" and all that other "necessary horseshit" than you have been living under a rock.
