This makes so much sense. I've always found it rather insane that wheelsets usually have the same front and rear rim.

Super. Great emphasis on mixing and matching products in the name of performance. It also is such a great example of selecting flex in products based on the pace of the rider or riding style (and ability), which is very common in other sports.

We all run different tires and pressures front to back, why not different rims. I think this is the concept that Crank Bros Synth wheels are trying to achieve. Durability, compliance, or pinch flat resistance. Pick 2, and buy an insert. Lol

I appreciate the ability of corporate speak to use so many words and still be so vague and meaningless: "By combining our activities in the new structure, we are even better positioned to serve the needs of our customers in the bicycle industry." Translation: "We gave Jonas his own desk in the office, a new title, and bumped his pay 20% so he can focus on bikes instead of doing bikes and lawnmowers."

The extra drag of an o-ring chain is noticeable on a 450 motocross bike, would end the idler drag debate I suppose.

You really nailed this build imo. Tell us about the pedaling performance of this bike please. What Reach did you go with? How is front wheel traction on long flat turns? Does the very high AS on this frame feel harsh through the pedals when hitting chatter? Like lots of feedback? Thanks!

It has a hidey-hole for your herbal sedatives, an observation port for your sag indicator and is reassuringly expensive.

I had been riding a Forbidden Druid for the past two years, and recently switched to a 120mm travel Horst link suspension bike. Here are a few things I’ve noticed on my first few rides away from the high pivot and idler bike: - square edge bumps and fast rough sections of trail. The high pivot feels like it float over, like a hovercraft, were the Horst link bike feels Like it skitters across. - poppy. I felt like the high pivot felt good off jumps and side hits, gaps and hops. The Horst link bike is much easier to...

I Try to add my 5 cent to the discussion here. I'm riding a Norco Range since November Last year (coming from a Yeti sb150). The Range is a very interesting bike but presents many compromises. The rear end is very very planted, offering undisputed traction and grip. The advantage in braking, off camber traction, stability, and comfort is very noticeable and it offers really something more than a traditional bike. On the other side I found the bike to feel very "slow"*, it's difficult to generate speed through pumping or using natural features, the bike is very good at...

Look at the tread pattern. A front tire mostly has to deal with steering and traction so more aggressive and wider spaced knobs are best. Rear tires are more about power transfer so more central paddle shaped knobs are common with a good edge for cornering. So without seeing them, just from the names, I'd say Nobby Nic in the front to steer you where you want to go and the Tough Tom in the back. It sounds well ready to grind out those miles. Hopefully the add men at Schwalbe put in the miles so I'm right.

I doubt it. There doesn't seem to be any point in increasing stanchion diameter by 1mm. The current Lyrik is already stiffer than the Fox 36 anyway.

We may be small compared to our big corporate peers, but we've proven time and time again an uncanny ability to strategize synergistic solutions into seamless ROI streams that converge into deliverables for visionary, blockchain-backed value-oriented stakeholders and iterate turn-key, scalable interfaces to drive benchmark results in dynamic markets. I’ll start by saying that never ridden a bike with an idler. I typically ride all mountain/enduro-lite bikes in the 150-ish travel realm. I like long rides with gnar and there is often some heinous climbing involved. The benefits of a high-pivot bike are well-documented in the DH realm and are obviously catching on for a enduro bikes. I’m curious to see how far that technology trickles down from there. My guess is it would be reserved for gravity racing / riding. The idea of an idler adding any drag, however minimal, on my all-mountain bike isn’t appealing no matter...
