Never thought I would long for the days of gearbox debate on the tech forum but here we are.

It’s always been so funny to me when adults are leery of kids being on e-bikes. Their muscles are much less powerful in relation to the size of their bike and the trail. They may deserve to be on e-bikes more than adults!

Or a horizontally mounted Mass Tuned Damper. Reduce lateral vibrations and add weight down low. Win win.

I wouldn’t think there is much stress on the bearings at all. It’s only the bike weight, if you hit something with a crank mounted bash-guard. The bearings carry all your body weight, load under heavy pedaling, the pull of the chain… I’d think all these stresses are much higher on the bearings than when the bike weight hits the bearings by hitting the crank-mounted bash guard. The only thing is that the impact is quick and hard. If the frame hits something, the body/bodyweight isn’t as rigid and will “give” in the direction of movement. If that makes any...

Yes, that has been known for a while Intend specifically makes a fork, and has done for probably 5 years, that accepts a sid damper/cartridge. (I believe I even posted about it here 1+ year ago) And mounting the flight attendant module requires only some filing to remove like 1mm of material from the FA control unit. Mounting it to a fox fork however, is not something i've seen before, and not sure how it works. And if you've looked at a flight attendant module, its also not very easy to understand how someone would fit it to a fox...

This is pretty much my philosophy as well. I'm one of the few weirdos that was never willing to give up gripshift, so it's on all my Eagle drivetrains, and it is simple to fly through gears as fast as you want will spinning at low power. With any significant power, you better be good at easing up strategically during shifts though, or suffer the brutal clicking and popping noises that ensue.
