7/21/2026 7:19am FWIW, you're trying to remove latex. I'm sure you'll find some suggestions on the internet on how to approach the problem.

7/20/2026 10:32pm Time for a project update! A lot has been going on. First, the hardware has evolved. I've done a major redesign to make the logger more robust and easier to build. It now supports up to 8 analog channels, plus digital on I2C and a UART connector for external GPS. The firmware has moved a long way too. It now supports AS5600 and AS5048 rotary encoders and DAN-F10N GPS modules (these are available from Sparkfun on a breakout board and work really well). There is now an option to write log files in a compact binary format, which reduces file...

7/20/2026 10:22pm The remote actuation was very smooth, smoother than a cable actuated post and it was probably one of the first 1x remotes that also neatly integrated with MMX clamps. I'd be happy to hear some benefits of a spring backed IFP on a brake.

7/19/2026 8:49pm Can we please not turn this into a d*ck-measuring contest regarding who rides which steep thing w/ which gearing?

7/18/2026 10:52pm What a bummer. We'll see what happens when Vail Resorts inevitably goes bankrupt and/or has to start offloading properties in the next 2-3 years.

7/18/2026 10:52pm I would agree. Vail taking over the resort didn’t help things either. They clearly didn’t give a shit about the event and made it harder and more expensive to do just about anything. I have a lot of respect for the small CWX team but they had zero pull with the Vail team. Not great conditions for a successful event.

7/18/2026 10:17pm I like to climb everything rather than push up so I am one of the few that cleans the ebike climbs hehe. Yeah very steep stuff around here.

7/17/2026 4:11am If they have two motors I think the primary motor is connected to the crankshaft to double up on the power input then there's the second motor for the planetary drive to handle the gear ratios. Otherwise it doesn't compute to me if it has two motors. And I don't think it would fly having only one motor and having said motor plus the crank as inputs to the planetary and the chainring as the output. I don't think you'd get the power outputs and gear ranges we are seeing that way...

7/17/2026 12:38am Maybe if I can get into an internet argument with you about gearing I could get a very nice guided ride out of it

7/16/2026 9:12pm What you are describing in regards to Also is a series hybrid like what the... Bolt from Chevy is. Or a diesel electric locomotive. Neither of which is the same as a Prius which is still a parallel hybrid.

7/16/2026 9:02pm U turn or DPA specifically was a bandaid to make bad bikes climb better. Bikes are now good as they are. I had a dual position air on a 15 Giant Reign and basically never used it. That was after years of using a coil Uturn Pike on the previous bike. And the Giant still wasn't a good bike by...

7/16/2026 8:58pm Except Sram's 11 SPD is 42t max and comparing granny gears you have to take wheel roll out into account as well as a larger wheel is effectively a harder gear. A 30t on a 29er is about the same as a 32t on a 27,5 and a 34t on a 26 inch bike. I also said if your terrain...

7/16/2026 8:21am I've had my belt come of a few times in 2 years of general riding without "extreme" mud conditions. All were due to sticks kicking up and lodging between the belt and rear cog. I can see how a bunch of thick mud can buildup from coasting downhill and derail it. I honestly think that if the Gates sponsorships weren't happening the gearbox bikes would be chain drive, or switch over to chain drive when the going gets muddy. The belt is very quiet and smooth in non-extreme conditions but no denying the chain is a better option for ultra...
