4/11/2025 7:48am Yes, it looks like Praxis is using the same/a very similar shifting system as the Vyro shifting chainring, but they've packaged it in a gearbox. The Praxis gearbox looks awesome if it works. As others have mentioned, the old Honda derailleur-in-a-box system was the king of efficiency and mechanical simpliciaty, but limited by the size of a cassette that you could fit in the box. This system from Praxis looks like a way to fit more gear range into a more compact space by routing them in series. Super cool. Chains are a billion times more efficient than my last...

4/11/2025 7:48am I can't figure out why anyone making an inverted fork in 2025, especially a single crown inverted fork, wouldn't use the Manitou hex axle to add torsional stiffness. The patent is expired and it adds almost no weight. I imagine a 15mm hex axle is significantly stiffer in torsion than a round 20mm axle, and doesn't require a new front hub. Especially if you're already doing pinch bolts, you can do it the way the Dorado has been doing it since 2002? It's so simple! We'd finally settled on Boost 15mm as a trail bike front hub, and now it's...

4/7/2025 4:11pm Why would you trade a 200 OneUp for a 175 mm Reverb? It makes no sense to me that losing 2.5 cm of drop, having a battery I can hit my knees on, and spending $$$ is worth getting rid of a cable.

4/7/2025 4:10pm I'm aware, and have an understanding that 90% or more of riders have no business touching high speed compression or rebound knobs. There are many suspension company's making fantastic stuff for cheap. Suntour, Rockshox, Marzocchi and X-fusion all knock it out of the park with close to $500 suspension products for every day riders from XC to freeride. I love my Z1 and rarely do I find it unable to keep up to my 38 Factory while it does double duty on a hardtail on the same trails. And the Domain has been a reliable smasher of a park and...

4/7/2025 4:09pm I always assumed they were kinda like SR Suntour and made parts for others primarily. It seems like with all these alternative suspension companies (not Fox/Rockshox and maybe now Ohlins) there success is tied to how easy it is to get replacement parts and talk to someone internal directly to answer questions. If a non-mainstream company could have their whole parts inventory easily accessible and always in stock and answer emails quickly, I think they could do well if the product worked even decent and there costs were reasonable.

4/7/2025 4:08pm I think it's great to have options. Similar to having a base model sports car and a ludicrous model with 900 horse power. If I had $15000 to spend on a freakin bicycle, I certainly would.

4/7/2025 4:07pm Got to give it to them, Specialized know their market! They are purely catering to the rich old guy here, the kind that always buy the latest S-Works Levo and get secretly frustrated when they’re on the trails and the friendly blue collar guy rocks up on his comp or expert and reminds him that he has pretty much the same bike for nearly half the price. Mr superior works will be please that now he can really set himself apart from the plebs.
