When doing development you’re splitting hairs- typically looking for tiny improvements. the time of day and rider fatigue plays a huge factor. Suspension feels terrible first run after lunch with a sandwich still bouncing around in your stomach. Then a few runs later fatigue sets in and everything feels crappy. very hard to test A/B/A setups with similar conditions, fatigue levels etc. A poorly timed flat tire can ruin a day of testing. You run out of time to do the repeats and get frazzled etc.

Just get some cascade parts on your bike, itll be great.

I’d agree- dyno doesn’t always tell the full story. It’s an extremely useful tool but you must do blind ride testing as well. MTB suspension testing is incredibly difficult and frustrating from my experience.

Suspension setup talk makes me think of a line from a book. “Do you know how to tell a good lie, Master Amadu? I know how to tell a bad one. one thing greg said after we were done recording is how stoked he was that the bike has external routing. engineers/team recognized that WC practice time is extremely limited, as we know, and if there's an issue w/ brake or derailleur needing new housing/hose, it's a long process to dismantle/install/bleed/setup with internal routing. if done in a rush, the bleed may not feel the same. norco team will have pre-bleed brakes setup and ready for fast turn-around if needed. for WC level racing, seems like a no-brainer.

It doesn't seem like there's anything "faulty" with the links though, just that you don't need the extra progressivity for your riding. Cascade are pretty clear in the advertising/tech info that the links increase progression, so if you've tried the link and found out you don't need the extra progression it's unfortunate for you but no fault of theirs.

In my experience, suspension is wildly complicated. Often times the correct response to a problem is the opposite of your first instinct. Sometimes if your suspension feels harsh, the correct response is adding compression. Other times, if a shock feels harsh, it means your fork is too soft. Other times it's your shock's rebound or spring rate. And sometimes it's bar height or tire pressure. A lot of variables, local maximums, and statistical noise.
