In my opinion the oChain does make the rear shock feel better because it free's up it's movement. Like you stated it mutes the chainforces and the chainforces are what can add tension to your shock on a bike with high Anti-rise or chaingrowth.

that makes sense, but again this would mean that the free motion has to be at the cranks. If you disable your derailleur clutch, take out your pawls, the chain flopping around will still tug on your cranks. With this hub "solution", the cassette still moves from chain tension (which, again, once you're going faster than 5 mph, its 100% the same effect as having a completely disabled freehub)

I don't understand the negativity about this type of onesie. Tight fitting elastic clothes are standard in many sport because they are comfortable and aero. It also doesn't look funny like full lycra skin suit did.

So many comments recently with people being overly pedantic about reach numbers. (Not just here). 10mm is literally nothing. Swap a 50mm and 40mm stem , get narrower or wider bars, try a different back sweep. Get thinner or thicker grips, bar roll stem spacers, adjust your cleat position etc. H ell, the hand position difference between single collar lock on grips and double collar probably changes your torso position as much. Reach is just one aspect of bike fit. Writing something off because the reach isn't exactly a perceived magic number by 10mm without trying it is very close...

Robert from The Loam Wolf here. I was the one who broke the Scalpel, and I’m not surprised I did - overshot the landing of a large jump for an XC bike, landing in the pocket between the landing and the flat ground after it. Huge bottom out. I corrected Kaz at Pinkbike’s quote - he had flatteringly guessed me to be 190lbs, whereas I am 220lbs. Nothing fishy. I wholeheartedly believe the Scalpel is fit for purpose and that it was my fault! Was having far too much fun and got carried away.
