Accidentally I've noticed a photo in this article where Dario Lillo is appararently racing on a prototype Fox 34 (?) fork with completely new lowers. I’ve been super interested to see the reach and stack on Bruni’s proto demo. I don’t know if it’s his unique style but to me it always looked shorter and perhaps maybe a bit taller than the rest of the similarly sized field.

As an event announcer myself I will say it is totally plausible that the announcer forgot in the moment it was top 3 for the overall. Even at the world cup level no one gives the announcers a script of the podiums, they just get an overall points sheet for the updated overall standings and then call the appropriate numbers of riders to that podium for each class. Kolb selling his spare bike 🤔

The bike is not fun to ride in this setting. (setup for countershox but removed). Much more feedback to my hands and less planted bike. It felt like it was deflecting all the way down the trail. I did a test recording axle and bar movements with and without countershox. I'll bite. I don't feel we're really seeing bikes eek up in travel but we are sometimes seeing more product offerings and certain models gain more travel which may make it feel this way. Put another way, I'm not riding a longer travel bike now than I was 6-7 (10?) years ago as my daily driver, and I bet if we dug into the Vital Rider Survey data or similar we'd find the mix of what people ride hasn't changed much either. I started test fitting the SynBike kit to my bike tonight. Really well built, clean kit! There’s 4 different 6 axis imu sensors that will really open up more data possibilities for chassis movement. I’m excited to dive in!

I was surprised at how, for the most part, the Making Up the Numbers crew were positive about the directions they’re trying to take the sport (minus a few proposed changes). Just seems that it’s the methodology and lack of communication that are really frustrating folks.
