Sorry to say, but from what I have found out from either personal experience of from other suspension service centers in central Europe, bos is not using any proprietary seals and certainly weren't using them back in 2016 either. It's only "certified" suspension centers that for some reason refuse to visit the nearest o ring store that had the problem. The were all regular metric seals/wipers available immediately and for pennies and if you so desire in multiple compounds so you can try to improve already good frictional properties. And till recent forks with 39/42 mm stachioned forks even fork...

Transmission, it's weaknesses, and "solutions" for those weaknesses all seem kind of insane to me. Hey we have this little uvula looking thing on the back of frames which the derailleur attaches to. Usually, derailleurs aren't that expensive these days but just in case, it's meant to bend instead of allowing the derailleur to break. Because our frame is made of steel, we can usually just bend it back for free! How nice! Since we moved on to alloy/carbon, we had to make the hanger its own item. We went with aluminum alloy so it's stiff and light, but if...

Sorry champ, but our Apollo program used the metric system, and the Soviet Union landed plenty of things on the moon other than humans. More importantly, does the UCI hate miles or privateers more? 😁

Don't. I've been there with a commute of ~50mins each way and while I miss the podcast time, the 8 minute cycle commute I now have is infinitely better. Somewhat back on topic, I'm curious if Needle's last chance qualifier campaign got any traction with the powers that be.

The "ass saver" style one puts the battery right in the water spray. What could go wrong? Might as well just hard wire the derailleur in to some solar cells, by which time you might as well just connect the shifter with a cable, which can work in the dark and doesn't need ridiculous charging gimmicks

I like the vertical scroll format way more than the slide show! Way easier to browse on mobile.

Correct. I helped lay out the new tune names etc. We had the issue where a M tune on a Super Deluxe did not match the M tune on a Deluxe and that did not match the M tune on VIVID... Also- we had a shock with extra L1, L2, L3 and L4 tunes (in addition to normal L, M and H), they were not spaced evenly and no one could remember if L1 was lighter or heavier than a L2 tune. So we went to numbers that meant something on the dyno. We wanted OEMs to be able to...

The SRAM tech support is quite helpful answering questions about the different tunes. They've got some easy to process graphics showing the spectrum of the tunes. I actually really like the new Cxx/Rxx system, because the center of each jump in numbers in each direction corresponds to opening/closing that adjuster for the adjacent number. Smaller numbers is less damped / lighter. So center of C37 LSC is the same as C34 LSC fully closed, meaning there is a good amount of overlap between each tune. If the OEM tune for your bike is only 1 off from the generic retail...

A shock tune guide would definitely be nice from the mfgs. I mean how they compare to each other in a graph or something. I bought a Vivid C1 back in January because it was a real good price, relatively speaking. It was marked down, I guess because it was "for" a SB160 which meant it had mounting hardware for that bike and the tune. Hardware didn't matter as I had that for my bike, and the tune wasn't that different. Only thing was the Compression was C37, and after contacting Fezzari (Ari) they informed me the tune they ship...

Not to mention the lack of information on shocks, shock tunes, suspension kinematics, etc. Hard to make a change if you don't know where you are, where you're going, or how to get there.

In my experience, "Pro" tends to mean it costs more. Also see "Elite," "Ultimate," or the model with the most extra letters after it.

The issue is that Transmission "knowing" the time to shift is marketing BS. There is no hardware to allow the drivetrain to know when to shift. Transmission puts enough pressure on the chain to shift at a shift ramp/ gate, but not enough pressure to force a shift before the chain reaches ramp/gate. The drivetrain knows nothing. This is why it's highly unlikely there will ever be a cable activated Transmission derailleur. With direct cable shifting, there is no way to prevent forcing a shift. The key to the shifting performance of transmission is completely reliant on controlling the limited...

The whole wireless only thing is really representative of what bothers me about the bike industry. Changing things for the sole reason to sell us something more expensive. Why would they not put a small hole in the head tube and in the chain stay, can fit little plugs in it if they arent needed. Its different than say 1x drivetrains or dropper posts where there is a clear and undeniable benefit. What is better about a wireless drivetrain vs a properly tuned cable one? We get rid of a $3 cable and cable housing and add a battery?
