Those look thick... at least as thick as my 2.3mm TRP S05e rotors, possibly more.

Probably been mentioned before, but any guesses what’s up with these new Shimano rotors? Hard to tell if they’re thicker, and they look similar to the cheaper RT66 rotors Shimano currently sells. I wonder if they’re messing with tuning power via different rotors/pads? Or maybe these are a 3rd party I don’t know about.

I'm not sure if this is an indication it's close to release, but Norco just posted pics of the dh bike ahead of Korea and it's got "Team DH" printed on the top tube. Would be cool (and make sense) if they went back to the Team DH name for the race bike.

Thought this was a good place to discuss, as I haven’t seen many comments on it yet. What are some thoughts around the new Demo 11 leverage rate? While not anything radical, it seems to be notably different than other long travel bikes. The starting leverage rate is quite low, with the progression being quite soft off the top, and...

Ok, just did a ride on the new Tacky Chan Trail Pro Softs. I used the Wolf Tooth pressure calculator as an initial start, which rounded to 29 PSI rear, 26 PSI front. (For reference, I’m 220lb with kit and have been running 24/22 PSI on Maxxis EXO+ tires this season.) Started the ride with a half hour of climbing and the tires felt fine. Good traction, efficient feel, no complaints. Did the first bracketing run and while I didn’t notice any squirming on hard corners, I also didn’t notice anything notable about the traction, either. It felt like a...

I got a good ride in on the Tacky Chan Gravity Pro. These finally are the radials for me. They roll fast, brake well, dig into loose dirt, and don't squirm on hardpack or smashing berms. In the new Grav Pro casing, the radial effect seems less than when I tried the Albert or MM, but I think that's for the better. They feel kinda slightly more muted than a normal casing most of the time, but if you hit roots they conform really well rather than pinging off. Really pushing hard into berms or loose corners, they deform and...

750d already existed in the same French sizing system that gave us 650b 700c etc: "In the French system, the first number is the nominal outside diameter in mm, followed by a letter code for the width: "A" is narrow, "D" is wide. The letter codes no longer correspond to the tire width, since narrow tires are often made for rim sizes that originally took wide tires; for example, 700 C was originally a wide size, but now is available in very narrow widths, with actual outside diameters as small as 660 mm." https://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html It was supposed to be replaced...

600a, 650b, 700c, 750d I guess 32” wheels would be 800e if anyone needs a free reason to get mad.

Quoting measurements to 0.01mm on an aluminium mountain bike frame; they are very very over confident in the manufacturing capability of the factory.

DH bikes aren't made to have wide appeal to consumers, the current demo is an obvious sign of that. Respectfully, they do not care if the consumer would be miffed at an expensive cassette or don't really care about total cost of the frame +/- 500-1000. Besides, it's not an either or... maintaining UDH compatibility still allows for cheaper, standard mount drivetrains that have a variety of cost options. There is no reason that they wouldn't go to a UDH design when all of their other rear triangles are headed that direction. It seems obvious that they would go to...

Most of you probably won't like hearing this. I certainly didn't. Earlier this week I had a chat with a guy who works in a product management role for Ralf Bohle GmbH, which is the owner of the Schwalbe tire brand. Mainly I asked a bunch of XC racing related questions, about compounds, casings, radial ply, rolling resistance testing, wheter we'll ever see the speediest XC casing with a black sidewall and why they felt they needed to change their naming scheme for casings and compounds. The gist of it is that they are hard at work behind the scenes...

This feels like a similar conversation to underbiked vs overbiked. I voted too stiff, for the same reason I preferred to be overbiked - I’d rather have the extra safety and security when I’m at my absolute limit. The other challenge is that my terrain varies massively, from natural trails at lower speed, to wide open bike park laps. So...
Too stiff because of the fear of something being too flexy also being unpredictable. On the other hand there are situations where you want more or less flex. If you've been off the bike for a while and get a bit rusty, a softer bike would be good to help you deal with getting back on the horse. Then getting back up to speed it would make sense to again have a stiffer setup. So it's not one size fits all not just for everybody, but even for one rider at different times. And regardless of my answer and fear...

I know we talked about this earlier, but we weren’t completely sure it was RMU. I’ve now received an email from them with this picture, so we can confirm it is their bike. It looks like it’s launching on May 1st.
