Zink Bikes is dropping a new 27.5” model, I have no clue on geo and specs but this is what I’ve gleamed from ocbikeworks on Insta so far. “150 travel and it’s possible to run 26” in the back, but all the material shared with us suggests it’s meant for 27.5 without any mods. $1650 retail for the frame.” And like all shops they hook up the discount on parts to build it up. Has me intrigued for sure.

The Vaia features floating bushings. That should make the biggest differnce other then ridefeel. Would be interesting for sure!

The clear best solution is to just make water-cooled capable calipers. Water gets cycled through by a pump driven by a little baby pulley wheel on the outside edge of the rotors.

The following example is comparing three different theoretical bikes that have the same travel and progression, but different shock strokes. I made up a function to depict the air spring. It's not perfect, but it's not far off either. More ramp that most air shocks. This is only a portion of the picture. I wouldn't say there's any benefit to designing a bike around a short shock beyond fixing clearance issues if there are any, though. When I had my Zeb done by Craig at Avalanche I asked him about re-sizing the bushings. He pretty much laughed and said that’s not really a thing for the most part but that he does check every fork that comes to him for a damper install just in case. My fork was fine.

77designz from Germany (same people behind Kavenz bikes) They collaborated with WR1 to produce that sleeved bar for their one piece stem. WR1 then sold it as a debranded product while 77 sold it with their logo on it. Working for FSA I can 100% confirm that there is NO room in a ZS 56 HT to run a reach adjust for tapered. some for straight. The bigger issue for most users is getting the cups in straight (yes this really is an end user/shop issue that has to be heavily considered having dealt with other systems). The better option is the RAS reach adjust. Luckily MTB companies I think want to go away from internal routing, so more open to this option. We are trying....

Saw this EXT Vaia at Sundance loam pass event on an Ari, talked to the ext guys for a bit about it. He said it’s internally adjustable from 170-200, meant for heavy enduro and dh. He said they’ll start selling hopefully in November for around 2k USD

That 10-45 12speed XTR cassette is definetly not vapourware. Ran one for 2-3 season and currently running a SLX 10-45 12sp cassette (there is also a XT 10-45 version) with the same XTR GS 12 speed derailleur. They are also the cassette used currently for the 12 speed GRX gravel group so plenty of stock available. But there is no SLX GS derailleur, only XT or XTR version. My next build will be XT GS derailleur and 10-45 SLX cassette with XTR chain. The vapourware stuff was the 10-45 11 speed hyperglide+ cassette that was mentionned during XTR launch but...
