First of all, I get that a lot of ad folks are probably not mountain bikers. They're using a toolbox based on things that they think has worked in the past, not necessarily what will work best in this community. Second, their job is to sell products. Building a community where new people feel welcome is probably not on their priority list. Third, as mountain bikers, we have collectively shown that stuff like the old Marzocchi posters and calendars (that were on the walls of service departments I managed) was not only acceptable but preferred. What would a regular weekend warrior understand from adjusted frame compliance and leverage rates? He/she’d still have an amazing time on a previous gen V10! The new one seems just like a facelift of the old one, if you don’t look at the details from close range, you might think it’s the old one. Check what Spech are doing in the last 7-8 years - each next Demo is nothing like the previous one, and there are newer and newer design details, not to mention frame compliance and leverage ratios!

Did he actually measure if and how much time he was losing on the pedal sections? And how would they determine its because of the extra weight? These things can be measured in a number of different ways without much difficulty these days......

So strangely, there doesn't seem to be any DH fantasy for 2023... So I went ahead and created an app so we can all still play and follow along with the 2023 season. https://www.downhillmtbfantasy.com/ I've been testing for a couple days, hoping I got rid of all of the bugs. Only way to solve this is to do back to back testing of a gambler (lightest DH bike?) and a yz250 (engine pulled) both chainless at Val de Sole

Looks similar to what the Scott team did a year or two back on the Gambler; the axle path remains the same (assuming it's the same frame) but trying an idler to reduce kickback a bit
