5/23/2025 5:10pm The primary is a photo-cell. The wand is an indicator only. We don't do gate starts like BMX. There's also no starting procedure for DHI listed in the tech regs. XCO is quite descriptive, but DH is generally that riders can go in any of the last 5 second beeps.

5/23/2025 1:23pm Visually, he's definitely cheating this one without that ramp photo cell or a buried timing loop at base of the ramp (and timing loops up top don't tend to be pinpoint accurate for starts because they pick up a rider "within range" of the loop. With timing systems, you can use a combination of whatever you want to work. In this case, you can see there is no photo cell to break the beam on the start ramp. But does look like he has a chip on his fork. So what they are doing is what most race timing companies...

Nzdinosaur Added a comment about feature How Does Loic Bruni Keep Track of all His Suspension Buttons
6/7/2024 11:32pm When DH is literally the F1 of biking and people complain that "technology is cheating". If the team is learning about speed gains through damping tweaks, then down the line, riders will end up with faster more fun bikes and the racing will get more intense. Bring it on.

6/7/2024 11:28pm I'm still convinced these don't do anything and the Specialized/Ohlins engineers are just trying to let him feel like he has some agency in bike setup

4/27/2024 2:58am If people don't think brake force contributes to arm pump, try a pull-up, then try again with your index finger pointed up and feel the decrease in grip strength.

4/25/2024 8:02pm I've wanted these brake tests to be run in the opposite format as itll be more relevant to the user. ie , run the dyno at say 200Nm and see what lever force and distance is required to stall in say 2.5 seconds. This should tell a better story as lever geometry will be considered in the results. As an...

Yeah its like theres no start order and the riders come down in a random order with no on-screen text. 🤷🏼♂️ So hard to know who's on track

4/17/2024 1:47pm I switched to galfer sharks about 18months ago and won't go back. The initial bite is the same as any good rotor, but there's no fade or lever pump anymore. On a long descent (2000ft/700m) over 10 minutes they feel the same top to bottom. Only downside (which I dont care about) is that they wear fairly fast. Because all the holes line up the material wears faster where the holes are, so small ridges develop. I change rotors every 2nd set of pads anyway so not too bothered. I run these on my trickstuff dirittessima in 200's with galfer...

3/23/2024 1:55pm When the NZ govt gives crankworx $8mil for the 2022-2027 events series, you'd think a portion of this would be set aside for looking after and attracting riders to the event. https://www.rotorualakescouncil.nz/our-council/news/news?item=id:2ipwi1… Not forgetting the ticket prices https://crankworxrotorua.flicket.co.nz/events/def3bb7e-69aa-488a-a1f6-4…

1/26/2024 1:06am But this is just plain incorrect. The simplest way I can explain it to you is this. Roll from a 10m hill down, you convert the gravitational potential energy into momentum, that energy is fixed. If you have 29" or 26" wheel do don't get more or less energy from rolling down the hill. Now once you have gained momentum, you hit the flat and start braking, converting this momentum into primarily heat via braking. Since a 29 and 26 wheel have gained exactly the same amount of energy going down, to come to a stop they must require exactly...
