I've had that conversation with someone (triathlete) about a year after they launched the new RED. "My gears are slipping" 'Your inner chainring is really badly worn and chain wear is waaay past 1%' "oh ....I've only done 8k on it" (seemingly without ever cleaning it) 'and it's one piece with the outer ring and power meter.....but SRAM do a trade in service at 50% discount' "oh that is a relief I thought it was going to be expensive!!" 'Well the original price is £800, so it's still £400 plus a chain and a cassette at £350 and labour' It...

I'll take your money, I know the lock I use like the back of my hand. But in reality, counterpoint, would you want to ride a setup that has a 10kmh minimum? Also, the crowns look like this to me:

The adverse publicity just from the allegation may have been enough for them to let him go. I would have thought he would've been charged by now if the police (and the prosecution service) believed there was a case, seeing as this goes all the way back to last summer. From what I've seen he hasn't been, although I don't know if laws on confidentiality are different in France to the UK. I say this because a guy I know was falsely accused of rape, was charged and named by the press within a couple of weeks of the accusation...

Not odd at all with the recent changes over on PB. Completely different place over the last 12 months. Regarding the larger story, either more came out to Canyon or it finally reached the people that should have known prior to the signing. Either way it is a very poor look for Canyon to not have investigated privately prior to signing him. That being said, corporate responsibility in these issues still leave a lot to be desired. Take a look at how Redbull is handling the Chris Horner issue where they cleared him and then put the accuser on unpaid...

Fox and Rockshox only go as low as 48mm for 29" forks, Ohlins goes down to 46. That's not so much longer than 44, but it's still longer and as you said riders still have to buy the shorter offset crowns aftermarket. In the case of the Formula dual crown, it's designed to be run at lower travel amounts to match enduro bikes, so a "normal" enduro offset seems like a no brainer for Formula, especially considering it's probably not designed to be run at 200mm travel anyway.

Nigel Page posting what would have been a new reactor frame. I wonder what will happen to all their tooling as it sounds like Mike Ashley only bought the name and I.P. Could a smaller brand swoop in and buy up the tooling from the liquidator?

My understanding was that it was especially the larger sizes that used to be too short. I‘m 5‘6“ and ride a size small with 430mm reach. Proportionally that seems in line with the longer reaches on size L and XL frames for taller riders. Obviously it all depends on body proportions and riding style too.

but why, you can get heaps of power with trp, magura, dominion, hope v4, nearly the same if not more than the said mavens, without the shit stiff lever, it's not that it's the only powerful brake in the market and then it's a good option, it's one between many other that are just better

lots of points are good, but some are just invalid. While every rider is going after lighter and lighter lever action, even some swearing by the latest hayes levers. We are already being shaken by everything tumbling down the trail, we don't need to unnecesserily spend more energy than the bare minimun to stop. I did a full rebuild of my shimano levers, with a polishing step inside the barrel, and the braking action did improved, for the better. F1 drivers do oppose their weight while braking hard. They don't have servo brakes because the feeling of the brake is...

counterpoint - i think it's less about hiding any potential IP, but more about building hype. because every time a bike shows up under wraps we immediately start discussing it and speculating.

Calling it „superior peak“ and „the future of downhill“ might also be an exaggeration when it basically looks like a commencal FRS with a few frame adjustments built in.
